With Schaeffers it's def possible to go a little longer than usual for an oil change.. However, 7500 is still a long time. I change mine every 3k.. if i ran that specific oil i would probably stretch it to 4 or 4500 but thats max

I would not be running it with syntheric blend on a fresh build with out some miles to seat the rings. Also I would hope you would of change the oil atleast 3 to 4 times since the first start up already to flush anything out.

I said i ran it 200 miles soft on dyno oil. Changed it. Ran 1000 miles hard on dyno oil. Changed it. Now ive got about 7500 on semi syn oil. Thats where im at right now.

Ben that's still a fresh build to me. Once the motor was installed and fired up and ran up to temp oil would of been changed. Then I would of drove it for 50 miles if that and changed it again. The next change would of when in 400 miles still on old Dino oil. I would of waited longer then 1,000 miles for the synthetic blend. Hell I just start running it in my motor and that build it 4 years old and 75k on her. I was running Rotella then noticed they were starting to thin the oil out. I matched it up with a older jug I had from a year before on the self. Went back to Mobile 1 Delvac Dino oil still and same thing they changed stuff also thinned out lighter now and you could hear the valve chatter. I went ahead and tried Champion Blue Flame synthetic and all has been well. I also have a habit of changing the oil around 3,500 to 4,000 got behing last time and forgot. By the time I got to do the fuel filter and oils I have 9k and it had not used any.

I have ran Rotella T 15W-40 in my 2002 stock LB7 since day one, 3500-4000 mile oil changes, not one drop of oil burning and I have 160,000 hard miles on that truck.

My 2007 LBZ, same thing, Rotella T since new, 4000-5000 mile intervals, no oil burning either and I am at 84,000 miles.

I think your rings need to seat or possibly your tolerances are looser due to the built motor ???

Good Luck

;)

I run Rotella T 15-40, It gets changed at 5000 miles. My truck has 197k on the clock, it runs just as quiet and smooth as the day I drove it off the lot. Its had a 500+ HP tune in it starting at about 10k. I've not been kind to this engine and it burns no oil. I think changing at 3k is overkill but it definately isn't going to hurt anything.

I'm not a fan of synthetic oil in diesels running this hard. Cenpeco here. Every 5k in my dd that's stock. I would do 3500-4000 max on a built motor. Cheap insurance for what you've invested.
