Sooo I bought a built LBZ thinking I could daily drive it, but with the current tuning and turbo thats not feasible so I need some input.

Truck has:
s475 87mm turbine .90A/R
100% exergys
dual cp3's

So Without making tons of changes I was thinking getting a quick spooling s400 frame like a s363-4-6 with a smaller turbine so its not laggy and clean up the tuning. I dont think I can reduce laggy smoke with tuning only but maybe someone can let me know.

Plus I wanted to lift the truck and s475 with bigger tires is not smart haha.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. And if any has a turbo that would work for me let me know!

Thanks in advance for the input!

If I were you I would go back to VGT. You could sell the S400 and install kit and cover most of the cost of swapping back to a Danville 68r.

Get a different converter... I have same turbo in lly with same injectors, I've ran a bigger a/r too and it wasn't too bad.

I do like vgt turbos better, I just didnt know if that was cost effective.

I have the full HSP s400 kit with a s475 now. If I can do the swap for the price of that kit I would consider it.

Tuning cant clean it up? Im running danvilles tuning and well its dirttyyyy from what I can see. Runs great though haha

Im not too concerned with losing hp, I just want 600-650 available to me. Not 800 plus.

I've had people tell me I could spool a 472 with 30 overs and 1 pump. May not be fast but you should be able to spool and not haze everywhere. I'd try another tuner or have Danville retune it first.

I agree, Ill try tuning first and see how it runs with less fueling.

Have you done a boost leak down yet ? My local builder Black Out told me that many hazing problems are from a cracked intercooler or boot that are easiest found by pressurizing sys .

Exactly... could be the smallest boost leak somewhere and not able to here it from in the cab. That little bit makes a huge difference.... ask me how I know... lol

VGT turbo for your HP goals hands down. A s475 and 100% over injectors are miserable in a daily driver, no matter what converter or who tuned it.

Then it wasn't tuned right. I run 250 overs and a 80mm. Drives decent

* didn't think about elevation, runs good at sea level.

You could always downsize the injectors. My truck runs pretty clean at <60% throttle with 45s. It'll black the road out though if it's not on the charger. A trans tune can also make a world of difference. Raising shift points to stay above 2k at all times and moving TCC lockup up around 65 really helps. My truck was a pig without a trans tune.

Seen the same setup run very low clean smoke-less 10 second passes. I agree it's either in the tunning, or boost leak. Just ask Mark to pull fuel out of the tune, and go drive it.
