I was wondering what piping most kits use??? I didn't know what thickness people use for hot pipe, charge pipe, ect. That's what this forum is for, helping each other. If your going to sit and make smart ass remarks then I don't see how you are contributing to the community.

Find me a 17 year old that is building twin kits. Then you can tell me what I "don't know". I've had accomplishments that few teens in the nation have. I spend half my time at highschool in the auto shop and the other half on diesel forums.

Yes I'm 17, but a Monday to Friday minimum wage McDonald's job isn't going to cut it for me. So tell me, what were you doing as a senior in highschool?
I'll respond to this with my own opinions. This does not reflect the views of anyone else on the staff but me (others may agree or may not agree, I don't know). In my opinion, this board is here to help people who are working on their truck. If you are trying to start a business, you're on your own.

I think it's great that you're showing interest and initiative at such a young age, but maybe you should slow down a little on your business plans. Get at least one kit under your belt before you try to conquer the diesel performance market. You don't even know what you're getting yourself into at this point.

I wish you the best of luck, but I don't think you're quite ready to start selling twin turbo kits. Since you have some hands on experience with mechanic work (assuming that's what you were doing in the auto shop), maybe you could get a job as a mechanic. It should certainly pay better than McDonald's, and you would gain more real world experience.

Yes but the problem with finding a mechanic job when in highschool is the hours. No shops will hire someone from 2-6... And just to be clear the kits aren't going to be made and sold. I originally intended to build my own kit then make two or three more to pay off the first kit. I can see where your coming from, and with my young age I have the flexibility to sell the kits for below Msrp of mostly all other kits out there because I can work for cheaper and make less of a profit strictly because I don't need to make a lot of money to support myself.

If I were to see myself 5 years from now it would be making diesel parts, and going to school for an engineering degree.

I'll say first off I'm going to sound like a first class dick. It is terse. I'm just telling you what I think.

Now that we're clear on that:

You need to spend more time in math and any accounting type classes offered.

I can see where your coming from, and with my young age I have the flexibility to sell the kits for below Msrp of mostly all other kits out there because I can work for cheaper and make less of a profit strictly because I don't need to make a lot of money to support myself.

This is the thorn in the side of any industry. The guy who just wants to play around and pay for his hot dog dinner because it makes him happy and that's all he needs. The problem with this is you have the same customers as full blown, well-run shops. Your customers expect the same level of service from both. You probably can't deliver. They will be pissed and you'll look like a jackass.

If I were to see myself 5 years from now it would be making diesel parts, and going to school for an engineering degree.

Concentrate on the latter and don't bother with the former for now. It will come.

If you don't kno the size/material you should use to build a twin kit or any part for these trucks you honestly shouldn't be building it.. A lot of guys on here do there own work and aren't just going to tell someone what to use or how to do it if there going to be reselling stuff.. with that said, there are plenty of threads on here with pics/info on what you will need to kno.. good luck and post some pics up when done

If I were you I'd just start with making one for yourself and leave it at that for awhile. Get miles on your kit so you can work out all the little things that you don't like about it and make it the best you possibly can. I don't think anyone is saying you can't make one its just making them at a quality you can sell is the issue. That's where the R&D comes in and years of fab work.

As far as working during high school... There's a lot of options other than McDonalds. Find a business that has room for growth and start doing their bitch work. That's what I did and ended up making good money while in high school and learned a lot about business. May not be a bad idea for you so you can see their business model and apply anything you can to why you want to do later in life.

Good luck.

Kid I'd never have bothered with you, but it was you who pm'd me. Then get upset when you're told the difference between what's rumor and what really is. If it pisses you off, too bad.

Of all your posts, 7 or 8 of them show exactly what you don't know. And your pm's even more.

People come on forums with grandiose talk and nothing to back it up......... A few yrs ago - you were still in jr high - a guy came on here talking about doing better/cheaper diesel conrods. It made him a hero for little while. He repped some company that made motorcycle and car connecting rods but knew nothing about diesels. This was obvious by the questions the engineer asked. A few people saw how silly the whole thing was and commented...they took flack from others on here. The guy was all upset. He disappeared sometime later.

A couple yrs ago some kid was gonna do a twin kit. Cobbled up a terrible looking thing with galvanized pipe, right angle, and huge blobby welds. Got all upset when people told him it was a mess. He had no clue.

Recently someone says he's gonna' do the best set of Duramax ported race heads. Was sure he could improve on what's available from other builders. Except he didn't know what a DMax head is made of, what they look like, couldn't tell the difference between it and a Ford head. Asked what cutting tool to use. This guy was gonna set the world on fire.

Someone comes on and says he's gonna make twin turbo kits, has no experience with them, and asks a bunch of questions that show he's at square zero......it's pretty obvious what's what.

ill be honest, i see where alot of these guys are coming from. On DF about a year ago you made a post in a thread about lift pump lowering EGTs.

Then you make thread after thread about "your" dually then say its your dads then say you bought it from him then its swapping beds, making it a SRW now your selling it and swapping parts and building a new srw LBZ and making built motor threads and yadda yadda. People on this forum are fine with questions. to an extent.

If you come off as an armchair racer, or a recliner tech you will get called out on it. Anybody can read a forum and regurgitate the stuff they read to somebody else.

With that said, its great that you seem to be really into this, because as a diesel tech, this shit is not all roses and gardens. So to see a younger guy seem like he wants to work is good these days. Best of luck with your plans anyways.

Don't you think a lift pump that has filters on it will make a truck run cleaner? And the thread about swapping parts and trucks is a build thread, plenty of people make them. At one point I was thinking about swapping beds yes, but then the further I researched it, it became more technical where axles lengths were different, hub lengths were long so the caps would fit on normal wheels.
