Im Looking to build a web site. For those of you that already have one, who did you use and why? I picked a Domain from Justhost.com, and was in the process of building a site, but it seems like too much BS. I want something that will look good, and not lame designs. Any pointers... The wife will be the one mainly working with it, since she has worked with one in the past. Thanks!

If you are totally new to building sites you may want to look at 1and1.com as your hosting company. They have a web building tool that is very easy to use and produces nice pages. I use raw html and Dreamweaver but that's way too much to get into on a forum. You could probably learn the basics in a couple of weeks taking night courses if you wanted to go that route.

+1 on Godaddy. I have a friend here local that charges very minimal rates. I pay $10 a month but he raised his rates to like 15 or $20 last year. sanangelohost.com Robert McGuffin.
He teases me because I use FrontPage to build my stuff, says I am living in the past. It works for me and its very user friendly.

ok im in the process of making a website for my LLC (diesel stuff, for selling my V2 mounts)

basically something like IdahoRob's site, Brayden's, Merchant, etc... Im doing the godaddy "website tonight" but the options for pre-made templates are kind of limited and their HTML editor is kind of clumsy. Is there a way to find other templates on the internet and import them? Last time I made a website was in 8th grade computer class and I dont remember anything about how to go about it...

I was going to try to make my point on that. The only thing godaddy and places like that is good for is for a domain and hosting.

If you're wanting strictly e-commerce. I would suggest opencart.com
For a informative site, Maybe Microsoft Frontpage. Personally, I use dreamweaver; these will allow you to build from ground up. Templates can be had for frontpage and Dreamweaver.

That'll work. They will probably give you the money back for the "Website tonight" crap. Just keep the hosting and domain.

Since your selling products. I would recommend going with a free open source shopping cart. If you get the e commerce solutions from godaddy, I've seen they limit products and make you pay a fee of like $30 each month. Open source carts are just that, open source and free! You can integrate paypal within with little experience.

For hosting and domain here, we use GoDaddy. It's cheaper than most, excellent uptime, and very fast. No complaints, and I've had at least 6 different ISP's in the last 15 years.

As far as e commerce websites go, I'm freaking clueless or I would have done one years ago. I can use Front Page, but it's now a discontinued product, replaced by Web Expressions which I cannot figure out how to use.

I just got a copy of that. Seems "similar" to Dreamweaver.

Check out: cubecart, oscommerce, zencart, opencart. All of those are free and very user friendly. Take some time to dress it up and all is well, you have a professional looking shopping cart with nothing but your time and the hosting fee's.
