it is purely to help the engine heat up in the winter.

Even tho the garage may be heated, the trans fluid is...well fluid. Its going to take a lot longer to change the temp of it. Say the garage is 70*. The fluid will probably be a little cooler. Then you drive away in the cold weather...the fluid is going to take a while to heat up and absorb heat.

Anything to help the engine heat up faster in the winter!

the catalytic converters on the LLY's were a joke, they were basically an extra "passive" filter to clear out any large amounts of soot build up int eh exhaust manifolds. It is not like gasoline apps. THere is no extra procedure the ECM does to "light off the cat", or control temps to keep the cat catalyzing the exhaust gasses.

most of the time it's in the 80's, got to stay warm, and if the truck is hot when it's parked inside the fluid is going to be ambient temp and engine too.

couple of times I got the radiant flow wrong and it's been in the upper 90s in the shop

Ben, look at the 3rd Gen controls manual... Like mike said, the ISS should be at 4 o'clock, also, Turbine SS 3, and output at 5.

Give me a call if you get a chance...

nah just kidding not really... :)

third gear limp

P0700 (duh)
P0842
P0840

Tried resetting it a couple times...either a problem with the C shift solenoid or something goofed in the wiring.....

I will be troubleshooting it with the GM eSI instructions (idiot proof), but I thought I'd ask....mike ever seen this before? What was the problem?

Most annoying thing tho is waiting for the darn trans to cool off so I can get under there and work on it!

things that make you go hmmmm...

Duratothemax,
Your post is the only one I've found with the same exact codes I have. I started a thread over on dp hoping someone else has had the same problems.

hm. My truck likes me?

let it sit and cool over night with the TCM unplugged, changed the spin-on, and its good as new. I love 7 dollar transmission repairs!

I forgot to plug the TCM back in when I first started it (after it had been sitting overnight) so it immediatly went to hydraulic default....maybe that combined with the new spin-on flushed it out or knocked something loose? Who knows...

I will be flushing it with Transynd tho, and changing the internal filter at the same time. Mike You'll get a call from me in about 2 seconds to buy a filter loc...for 20 bucks I might as well do it while Im in there.

I tried changing out the spin-on, but no luck. I'm considering unplugging the TCM as you did and start it. Any chance of that causing other damage and how long did you let it run before shutting it back down to plug the TCM back in?

Thanks

Try changing the Pressure switch manifold first.

New Pressure Switch Manifold solved my problems. Thanks Mike L.

I apologize for butting in on someone else's thread for my problems, but the forum search is a magnificent tool and learning with and from others is what's so great.

Thanks
