Broken heater core hose

Sprung a coolant leak last night and when i looked for the cause i found this? :WTF:

The black barb broke off inside the hose. so right now the only way i can run the truck without loosing coolant is to delete the heater core. perfect timing....


But any one know if the black plastic fitting can be removed? it does twist around but does not move back or forth.

It can be removed and replaced I am not sure how though same thing happend to one of our work trucks

I don't know why on the diesels it is that hard to get a disconnect tool on them. It's freakin ridiculous. But one of those broke on our gasser and I just used one of my normal disconnects.

Don't even buy the new plastic adapters. Just get two new #16 screw type hose clamps and push the hose onto the metal stub outs. Tighten the clamps and your done. This happened on my 8.1 gasser, 3-years later , and 40,000 miles and no problems.

thats what i was gonna say. cheaper and less to worry about:thumb:

i would do that, but i dont have that kind of luck im going to fix it like its supposed to be
