Broke drive shaft...new one too short?

I broke my old drive shaft during the sled pull event at OBX and had one delivered from a local junk yard. It was suppose to be the right size according to my WB and specs. From the looks after install it appears the yoke is sticking too far out which means the drive shaft is too short???? I've driven the truck around but I'm still nervous. Any ideas?

I'm just confused as to why it is too short for my truck. It supposedly came off a 03 2500hd ec/sb 143.5 wheel base which is nearly identical as mine. There is roughly 3 inches into the splines. Is that even safe to drive???

Okay I just went outside and measured the old yoke and new one. The new yoke is 6" L.O.A. with 3 1/4" exposed & 2 3/4" mated with the splines. The old yoke began to develop a new thin rust line around the 3 1/4" mark after the lift kit was installed a few months ago. I think it might be alright.

If only 3 inches goes into the splines id order a longer drive shaft. That just doesnt seem right

Looks to me like the heavy rust line is the furthest it makes it into the seal, the next line is where it normally sat in the seal on the stock truck it came off of. With your truck lifted it looks like you got the right shaft.

I doubt you've ever had that problem :D

I dont f and tell ask your sister though. Seriously though my buddy had a driveshaft too long for his car and it slammed into the trans so hard it ended up breaking some snaprings and stuff inside. Not a duramax but the same probably applies here.
