My truck is in the shop and they called and said the ECU quick communicating, the truck as EFI live on it and i have never had any issue with it previously and it has a custom tune on it from Kory. I dropped them off another ecu but dont want to have to buy a new V2 License unless i have to. They work with ATP trucks at their tune supplier for EFI Live.

Am i stuck buying a new lic and then having my tune rewrote for that new ecu?

All you need is a license. Then just full flash your old tune into the new ECM.

Licenses work off the modules sn, so you will need a new license for the new ecm. Tunes can be locked multiple different ways........ you may be able to reuse your tune depending on how it was locked by your tuner. You can always try to flash it in and see what happens, if it doesn't work, speak to your tuner about what happened and maybe they have a solution for you to reuse your tuning. It can be done, just need to modify the tune.

It's probably best to first understand what happened to cause the ECM failure and what was done to attempt to resolve it before replacing the ECM. It's pretty difficult to kill an LBZ ECM; in many cases they can be recovered. What happened? What messages did the shop get to indicate it failed? What did they do to attempt to recover the ECM?

EFILive Licenses to ECM serial #, so when the ECM is changed you'll need a new license.
