With the recent change to CK-4 from CJ-4 and the reduction in ZDDP from 1200/1260 to 800/830, I would look seriously at adding in a bottle of COMP CAMS break in additive or LUCAS break in additive. ZDDP is the zinc and phosphourus which are the 2 high impact wear inhibitors in your oil. The EPA specs recently changed as of January 1st, 2017(Shell changed Rotella dino oils as ov November/16, but they didn't change the label to reflect until January 1st, 2017). The verdict is still out, but FORD has shunned the new specs, and came out with there own saying the lowered ZINC content does not provide adequite wear protection for the valve train. FORD MOTORCRAFT diesel oils still have higher zinc contents in them, or if you can luck out and find some old stock of CJ-4 oil made before November of 2016 it will still have the higher zinc content. Otherwise run some zinc additive in it like the gasser guys do with flat tappet cams for break in just to be safe.
