I just replaced the injectors on my 03 LB7. I am not a diesel mechanic but I have done a lot of engine building and mechanical work. I studied every forum and tried to make sure this went well.
I used OEM injectors
Replaced the cups
Used loctight 272 on the tips
Torqued every bolt to spec
replaced the fuel lines
Everything went well. Truck started fine. Idle is good. No smoke at idle.
Temps all good. No codes. no leaks.
When I test drive the truck under load it is smoking bad. I only drove a mile or two. It has low power and a louder than normal diesel knock.
I guess I will need to take it to a shop so they can check flow rates and pressures. Is there any thing else it could be.
Truck ran fine prior to injectors but was making oil and injectors had about 90K on them. Truck has 184K.
Truck does have a bully dog tuner. I am assuming the tune stays when both batteries are unhooked. If so it should have the same tune as when I started.
Please tell me there is something simple that I have missed.
Thanks for any help.
This all sounds like a bad injector which would be very unfortunate.
