Brakes......

Wondering if anyone else has the same results. I've owned my 02 since new in 2001. Have 265k miles on her and still running the original brakes. I don't get why and how they've lasted this long. The tears are getting close to the scrapers but fronts still have plenty of life.

So has anyone else experienced this same thing?? I'm getting ready to put new ones on. Prob at 300k or so and hoping to get this kinda mileage again.

Enjoy it while ya can. I've seen 200k on stock brakes around here.

Replacements won't last half that long in my experience

My younger brother had 300,000 on his 2006 4x4 driven 90% stop and go in town with a moderate lead foot on the go pedal and never had the brakes done.

200k on my original brakes. rears are lower than the fronts but i still have 30% on the rears and 40% on the fronts. No bad cracking in the pads and rotors are still straight with no cracking

My brakes didn't make it to 150k on my old truck, and before this forum I would have said it was due to four wheel launches and racing but if James has 200 on his I know that's not accurate

I've seen several trucks with well over 200k its fairly common. The rotors are just a hair on the soft side they they warp fairly easily.

The best non stock ones I've found are Napa ultra premium rotors and pads. Put rear rotors and pads on about 12months ago(~100k) did the front this summer about 30k ago..
Don't have turbo brake so I use the brakes alot more..

They won't last quite as long but they last longer than aftermarket and have the same great features as the originals, zro dust is a big plus you won't get that from crappy aftermarket pads.

But there are aftermarket pads out there that stop better then the OEM.

My 06 has 260,000 on it with 3 original rotors and 3 of the original calipers. The pads were changed at around 250k because I lost a front hub assembly. They were about toast anyhow so I replaced all 4 corners.

My brakes seemed spongy so I pulled all the pins and greased them today. I noticed all of the old calipers with the original rubber boots had lost their grease but the caliper bracket with new boots the grease looks just like it did when I put it in a year ago.

I have 230k on my 05 4x4 . Was going to change them last time I did wheel bearing . They looked better then the aftermarket pads I was going to put on .

When I did mine I did all OEM replacement parts and I'm getting the same kind of milage out of it. I don't know why you'd get less milage when you put the same parts back on.

At what mileage did you do yours?

I did them at 170k. All of my rotors were spiderwebed from heavy use. Never actually warped any of them.

That's interesting, I've turned mine twice already in 150k. Pads still 60%+ that's why I think the rotors are a little softer. I'm very happy with GM brakes.

I don't think mine will warp with all of the glazing I do to them. :roflmao:
