This is the big reason not to buy a built truck unless it was done by a big name builder with references. I would have talked to the builder first and asked a lot of questions.
If a truck was built by a DIY, no matter whos parts, I would pass or discount the price of the motor. You will always take it in the shorts and the seller will tell you to fly a kite.
Never buy a hot rod unless you can steal it. If you do, you most likely will be sorry.

20k for a 07 with 88k miles a big dipper trans and fully built motor by accurate automotive and all the other mods isn't a steal????
If someone would have paid what he had been originally asking they would have been majorly screwed however!!!!

You can get f--ked on a steal as well. Anytime you see a truck freshly built for sale, there is something hiding in the woodpile.;) If you're smart you will build your own and know what you have.

Here's how it went down.
I posted about a truck for sale in another thread, David messages me saying he has one for sale. Just so happens it is EXACTLY what my buddy is looking for. My buddy doesn't do computers so I was the go between basically. David and my buddy talked and we made plans to go get it Saturday. We get down there (2.5) hours one way and find out when we get there that it runs like cr@p and smokes like crazy, he says he put bad fuel in the night before and will pay for half of new injectors. My buddy decides to go ahead and buy it because he seemed to be telling the truth. Well he obviously wasn't. And these are the days of our lives......

I'm not one to stir the pot, and by no means am I trying to throw anyone under the bus, but I figure after all of this I should put it out in the open...

A few months ago I bought two turbos (GT4094 and a Precision GT5088) from MD-Dmax. The GT4094 was supposedly a complete PPE kit, but it came with no downpipe. It took countless PM's and many weeks, along with Henry's (ripmf666) intervention, to get the downpipe shipped to me.

Even worse, after installing the big turbo in a compound setup on my motor, it ran for about 6 hours before the larger charger (supposedly a brand new GT5088 from Precision) grenaded. The compressor wheel exploded and sent metal bits through the GT4094, destroying it.

All in all, it ended up costing around $12,000 (new set of Mahle pistons, rods rebuilt, machine work, gaskets, replacement turbo parts, etc etc).

The GT5088 from MD-Dmax was run with an aftermarket 6" cone filter and custom made intake. It was never run without a filter or around dirt, sand, etc. There is 0.0% chance it inducted foreign debris through the filter. Ben (duratothemax) helped me do the build and will verify that this setup was never run without an air filter).

I'm not saying that MD-Dmax caused this or it's all his fault that I cracked a piston. I'm not laying any blame. I'm not accusing MD-Dmax of selling me a damaged turbo. I'm just saying that it seems mighty suspicious that a supposedly brand new turbo from Forced Inductions just grenades... Especially given everything that's transpired in this thread.

Take it for what it's worth.
