Bought a Sierra as Donortruck - now he stay

Going on with the rims, as this is the first we want complete with the rear axle.
We used also the zinq-epoxy primer

We will use the steel rims until we know which rims are allow here and where we can got them.
After painting tomorrow will they go to the tire-shop to put the tires back on them.
We will use again balancing compound like with the chevy rims for truck tires to not have again all the balancing weights clamp on the rims like before....

I didn't miss the dirt by derusting work on the axles


The rims did not come out of the paint satisfactorily. A filler was required after sandblasting. So the whole thing again with a filler.


Just put together all the parts for the shopping list rear axle (Bearing, Seals...)

The Sierra have a lot of more brackets than the chevy - my drying rack is not big enough, also not with 2 floors to got all in one job.
We used here also again the zinq-epoxy-primer

The brackets coming out pretty good in black - just 25% done now....
On the frame is 3 kg Epoxyprimer and 3 kg black paint
On these brackets and leafsprings again 0,5 kg Epoxyprimer and 0,5 kg paint


the leafsprings are also ready primed and painted after derusting
We dont separate the leafs - usually it exists different opinion about the best treatment for leafsprings
They was in a good condition, no need to open that package
we have removed the bushings and will set new inside also we need four new leafspads at the end of the lower leafs


the rear axle is also painted bot not final. We need still to open for a check.
Paint is necessary as currently we have high humidity here

Painting is timeconsuming...

Even though we will be replacing the controlarms, we still preserved the old parts. Because I did it, I'm sure I'll never need them again in my life.... I do not do it...

We had miss to sandblasting:

On the chevy we had reuse the metall cabs and only exchange the rubber bushings
This was the one which looked best of all.... on the others are the lower shell on the right side in this picture rotten down

the leafspring bolts are scrap - they should be already renew after disambling.

Meanwhile we opened the Differential to have a check
Looks pretty good


the calipers need more care...maybe we choose new ones - we will see after cleaning what we will do

Got an offer in germany for a crashed Chevy 2002, Frame is distorted.
As we dont need anything else from the truck except the interieur LT Version ask we for a quotation.
He offer the complete Ext. Cab for 5400 Euro...
To much for just some electric gimmicks we want

the leather and seats are in very good used condition...
it will be better to upholstery our seats with leather than take that complete package
More interesting for us are the electrical windows and electrical shifter for the TC
Also if we will paint our truck blue and the blue interieur would fit nice on it, it is not in such a condition that i would pay that money and bring the rest on the scrapyard. Finding interesting buyer for the rest will be like winning a lottery


How much money would a similar offer be in the USA? Just for have an idea of the value.
For sure if it is here the only one offer and there are enough interested people... will be the price much higher

In the USA. Probably not more than $3000. The price varies depending on location, condition, milage of vehicle.

The earlier truck don't bring as much as the layer trucks.

Since you have a 2006, you need later components for the electrical. The trucks have alot of differences from 1999-2002 Vs. The later 2003-2007 classic.

If you can not make money parting it out, better to pass. You can not use the electronics on your truck.

the drivetrain is about 130000 Miles (on the clock) where i must say i cant believe this
In the offer was said the engine got new injectors by 70000 Miles and the allison got a complete rebuild by 120000 Miles
I dont know what he want for this as we ask only for the LT-Interior parts. And the comlete cab for 5400 Euro is for us not worth the money

Usually the vehicles will be separeted on usefull parts and go in a shop for offers and the rest is immediatly to scrap metal recycling or pollutant disposal. The time is gone where you could walk about a field with scrap-vehicles to pick up what is useful for you yourself. But as this trucks are rare here you find zero used good parts anywhere.

I believe the inside of the door frame is also different between manual and electric drive windows. I have a Spare passenger door from a 2006 in storage. I can try and take a picture If I can remember this weekend so you can compare to yours.

Thanks 1FastBrick. This would be helpful if come an offer again. I know from Volvo you can exchange different years in a serie and you need all not only the electrical parts. The mechanic was usually also a little bit different.
Thats why we ask on the whole Interieur not just some parts. But he want to much money and finally it is not compatible.
