What sucks is I'm a big Apple fan back when Apple wasn't "cool". Back before the I-Pod,I-Phone,I-Pad etc etc etc. I was ridiculed for having one. Also running windows on it was very primitive at the time. So like a fool I ditched it to be "cool" and go Microsoft based computer. Now I'm stuck with all these piece of shit computers dreaming of going back to Apple! :banghead: :roflmao:

I do have a I-Pad II so I'm on my way!

Love my Apple stuff... iMac 27, mac book pro 17, mac book air 13, ipad2, iphone4 etc. etc.

Problem is... if work didn't buy me that stuff there is no way I could afford it

I use the air for tuning. Works great running win 7 pro 64 w/ bootcamp. Some of tuning stuff for subaru's actually runs under the mac os which is nice... battery life in the mac os can be up around 6 hrs...windows it's a little less but still last for many hours when logging and tuning. I work in IT, and I'm a windows guy as far as where my expertise/training is... but the apple stuff is pretty slick.

You're in luck!! Apple computers still aren't cool.

:D

Yes and no.

But if you think about it say 15+ years ago would you ever expect the popularity (coolness like it or not) the Apple products that are on the market would even exist? I gander to say no way! Just the I-Pod alone when they came out everyone and their brother had one.

Granted the computer not the I-Pad or I-Phone to say which in reality are computers with the exception of running programs and such haven't really meet the "coolness" factor as your stating but the I-Phone again who would imagine the Apple would be so popular, again "cool"?

IMO it's pretty amazing as previously you really only heard about Apple,Apple anything, computers ONLY in some schools and even there far and few as computers as a hole weren't as popular as a learning or a need to have in school. Go back 30 years and look at actual home computers compared to today. Amazing how did we do it? Stamps were .20 cents and I recall when the Fax machine came out and we wondered how we did it with out it! Now you don't even have to get your ass off a chair! :roflmao:

I actually have a 1980 computer (Xerox 820) from the "Apple Rules" era.

It runs CP/M, has a 8085 Intel, 64k RAM, and 2 x 8" FDD's. It originally sold for ~$10,000. The optional HDD held 10mb fixed, and 10mb removable and cost $15,000.

This is when the MSRP of a 1980 Corvette was $14k.

So by today's dollars, that would be a desktop computer for $80,000 with the HDD option. The Apple II at $3500 was a bargain at the time, but would still be about $12k today.

I'm an Apple fan. Haven't gotten the computer stuff yet (iMac or Macbook) but my iPods, iPhone, and iPad have been flawless. Might even put a jailbroken iPad in my truck

Seriously, the MBP is a very well engineered device. However, ours lost a HDD with very few hours on it.

I go threw atleast 1 hdd per computer every 2yrs so no compare in fact I just replaced 2 hdd's in 2 2.5 yr old puters yesterday. Cool is not my factor in buying it's just a bad azz puter. Also I have had several computers the ram went bad.

I'm sure stuff will go out on this 1 also. Just wish an sad did not cost 500 to 1,000.

Thats crazy but when they first came out that's what people paid. Not hard to believe ,not worth saying twice LOL, but it wasn't that long ago if you really think about it.

When I said cool it was just a figure of speech. I should have said or meant really was before Apple devices were popular. I at the time thought the Apple computer was awesome and when a lightning strike took it I replaced it with a microsoft based computer. Prior to that I only had Apple computers. I did succumb to peer presure when I replaced it although cost was part of it.

I wonder how long the hackers will take to start mucking them up with viruses and spyware. That was one thing nice about a Mac no worries

SSD? They're much cheaper than that. I have a 120Gb SSD I bought 5 years ago that's still running great today.

You can get a reasonably sized one today for about $250 no problem. Totally worth it. Just have to set up a ramdisk for all of your temp and cache folders to cut down on the write cycles per cell. Significantly increases drive life.
