Nope, I was curious too so we verified it with our ICE contact.
I think we all know that if guns were banned, criminals wouldn't care, they would still carry and possess weapons. Leaving law abiding citizens more at risk than ever. More than that, we would become easier to overcome by an armed militia.... like sheep to the slaughter.
Just a wild idea, but hypothetically I would think that if gun laws got severly tight, more of the people who would just off themselves in their basement would now resort to suicide bombings. Especially since the media attention is so high. I mean no disrespect to anyone working in boston or dealing with the tragedy, its heartbreaking, but the amount of media coverage for what I would call a small tragedy compared to others in history, is astounding.
I always compare it to bullying. If you get picked on and get riled up and defensive they will keep doing it. Say you rode the big girl in high school, the one whos a lot of fun but you dont want your buddies to find out. They eventually do and keep harassing you about it, you respond to it every time and they continue because its fun to them, they get your attention. Now if you just smile back, or say yeah I did and I liked it, now what? They are stunned in their tracks with nothing to say and life goes back to normal.
I do not know what goes on inside these peoples heads, but something as public as the Boston marathon you would sure think the person is going for the attention. I think it should be covered for a day, then later on follow up with the final fatality/injury count and the progress on the investigation. We live in a world where everything is now now now. The only thing the media accomplishes by updating every 30 minutes is misinformation and confusion. Just wait till the facts are out, then report. The whole time you cover it live they guy who did it is getting off over it. If you only give him 10 minutes of fame during the nightly news he's gonna be pissed and realize it wasn't worth it.
just my thoughts.
