Mods feel free to move this if it is in the wrong place. Has anyone ever fooled around with one of these. The one we bought and are make a race truck has a dual shock setup on the front. It looks as though it is factory installed. Sorry I don't have pics yet, I didn't have the camera with me at the shop. Second shock is an air shock, but is shorter in length.

I'm just suprised it wasn't Larry that said it. I will get pics as soon as I can. The truck is at the shop about 40min from my house, and I don't go that way every day.:D

The skid plates on that thing have to weigh several hundred pounds by themselves. They cover every thing from the front all the way to the back.

Sounds like maybe the truck has some of the same parts as the LSSV trucks the military uses. I think the things on the front are hydraulic jounce bumpers. Here is some information I found.

Front Hydraulic Jounce Bumper
Description
A hydraulic jounce bumper is a basic hydraulic cylinder.
The hydraulic jounce bumper aids the shock absorber
in increased energy absorption and improved
endurance. The top of the jounce bumper is mounted to
the frame and the lower is mounted to the lower control
arm. The hydraulic jounce bumper is used in
conjunction with the factory jounce bumper.

According to the information I found, the rear of the LSSV has a jounce bumper as well. They're similar in operation to the front, but they attach differently. I'd really like to see what all the border patrol trucks have in common with the LSSV. Here's a PDF I found that has lots of info: http://www.gmfleet.com/pdf/LSSVSM06.pdf
