So I was down a Maryland International Raceway for imports vs domestics yesterday. I was standing there talking to my friend that races a 7 second Supra. About a 150' behind me I heard a explosion. Some one had the trailer closed with three nitrous bottles infront of a propane heat while they were in the staging lanes for over 2 hours. Here's the results.

Luckily no one was in there or next to the trailer. There was a car about 10' away and blew the rear quart in. Peeled the floor up. It was crazy

The safetys prob blew and the propane heater prob ignited it.

n2o by itself isnt flammable.

it was one or more of the bottles ruptureing. from too much pressure.

I didnt get to go down today. But all I can say is those things rip. Rotary motors going low 7 to high 6's. Drag radial mustang with a 436 small block proline motor going 6.57 @ 251. It was nuts. Alot of breakage tho

it was one or more of the bottles ruptureing. from too much pressure.

Correct it is an oxidizer though.
And unles the bottles were damaged or over filled the saftys are designed to relive the pressure fast enough to prevent rupture but it is possible.
