I just finish replacing a head, injectors, and piston rings. I was blowing blue smoke before and my balance rates where slighy out of spec. I ordered most of my parts from gmpartsonline. After the starting the motor I let it run for a few hours at idle white smokes where everywhere even after warming up. I treated the fuel with double the additive I started to lose the white smoke, now I just do regular amount of optilube and I am blowing blue smoke out my tail pipe until even after she warms up. I am burning up 2 quarts of oil every 1000 miles. I am tried of having to roll up my windows at the stop lights to keep the smell of burning oil out of my cab. I have check the compression and balances rates. Breather tube has slight oil on it but not much.
Manual compression gauge:
1: 320
2: 320
3: 340
4: 303
5: 320
6: 340
7: 240
8: 320

Electric compression gauge:
1: 291
2: 340
3: 297
4: 324
5: 337
6: 323
7: 236
8: 318

Balance rates cold/hot/drive:
1: .8/ .5/ 2.5
2: -2.8/ -2.6/ -4.3
3: .1/ .1/ .7
4: -1.5/ .3/ -.5
5: -1.6/ -.7/ -2.5
6: .4/ .1/ .6
7: 7.4/ 4.2/ 5.7
8: -1.7/ -.8/ -2.2

7 is close to being out of spec. Not sure what to do at this point I just want the smoke to go away. I am thinking it might be the turbo before I was boosting up to 20 psi quickly but know I am just slowly building boost. there is no lack of power I just have a only seen boost get up to 14psi when climbing a hill at 65 mph before I had the tranny rebuilt is was 20 psi. any help or recommendations of what to do to repair this problem will be greatly appreciated. Attached are the picture of the glow plug tips. They look like they have some residue either burnt oil or anti-sieze on them.

I'm still learning on diesels but those compression readings seam low for a rebuild. Did you check the cylinders for out of roundness or at least hone the cylinder. Sounds like oil is passing by the oil rings. But I could be wrong. I'm running a motor with a scored cylinder and it has 390lbs and the others have 410.

I light hone was done just to not off carbon deposits on the cylinder walls. No we did not check the PTW clearance since it was a stock swap for rings. I did not check for out of roundness either I did not have any of those tools for this. I am thinking of replacing number 7 since the specs seem to be off. at least before doing the rings

so I started my truck today and I had an injector that kept missing looking at the balance rates figured it to be number 7 at 13. I am thinking of replacing that injector or am I wrong? I have efi live is the a test I can run to verify that it that injector?
