i have the usual enlarged upper rad. hose. and the black showing in the coolant res.

Depends on how much material the machinest removes.

x2 depends how badly warped, the heads are tottally flat there are no pockets in them but i am no machinest but do the valves have to be recessed the same or can you get away with so much and then if you go past that they need to be recessed a touch?
