Replaced my blower motor resistor about a year ago and this morning went out to the store and when i get back home shut the truck off and noticed my blower was still blowing. Open door same thing still blows. Possible i have a bad resistor AGAIN?

Forgot to mention i had zero control over the entire system, its the digital dual climate. tried turning it off and selecting a lower speed with no luck
Was the resistor again, connections were fine. went with one from the dealer this time hoping it will last longer than a year
Mine is still the original, I keep waiting for it to go bad, but so far so good. Seems to be a common problem.
I have no proof but I think the blower motor itself draws too much power and burns out the resistor. My dad's 2003 tahoe had the 2nd resistor blow out after 2 years so Im gonna replace the blower motor this go around as well.
My LLY burnt the resistor up a yr after I bought it. I ran wires to the fuse box and rigged it up on a switch til I got home on days off, went to the dealer and they said there was an updated one, said they draw too much power at full tilt.
Yeah i think i got the updated one because the one i got came with a wire harness to connect to the new resistor
Yeah that's it, I had them put mine in while I watched for next time, they said unless I had a wiring issue there wouldn't be a next time. And there wasn't.
Had to rewire that plug when I did mine last week. Im not a fan of having to cut into the wiring, but thats how it was.
I said the same thing to my buddy who was standing over my shoulder watching. I even cut the wires back far enough i could re use the factory connectors again just in case :roflmao:
I dont think any of the newest resistors use the OEM style plug anymoreso chances are everyone will have to splice in at some point or another.
What gets me is if the original harness setup (separate input and output circuits) was prone to overheating and melting the plug, then what good is combining the input AND output power circuits into the same plug?
Its not like you'll be able to simply buy the harness later on....

Yeah that doesnt make much sense combining the two, more heat on that plug. Unless the resistor its self was drastically re designed internally? Who know. We'll see how long this one lasts
