Help: Blow off valve newbie with questions

I googled a bit on this and found some valves. Are they easy to install? Is it a worth it mod or just cool for the sound? I have no idea about these but love the noise it makes but also saw on this site somewhere about protection of compression surge. Any info is helpful and thanks in advance guys.

I have a blow off valve on my truck right now. It does the job about 85% of the time but it is another additional maintenance item along with another part that can fail. If the valve sticks open you can smoke your turbo, which is a good possible reason why mine has started throwing oil.

I don't see a need for one, maybe if you drive a stick and stalled the turbo all the time. Just don't go from WOT to idle as quick as you can and you will not have an issue. I found just a 1 second lift worked on my stocker

It's not a 'bolt on' part. Takes lots of trial and error.
