with current specs
bore is 4.055"
stroke is 3.897"
with a .250" increase instroke bring net stroke to 4.147" with stock bore is 428"
quickest way to increase discplacement is to increase said bore dia.
what is max over bore.. i have hear as much .060-.080" ranges form 441-445ci (.060-.080") with a stroker crank. bores 4.115-4.135"
4.055x4.250 is 439ci
4.250x3.897 is 442ci
4.155x4.250 is 461ci
4.250x4.147 is 470ci
4.250x4.250 is 482ci

can this be acheiveable?

any one sectioned/quarterd one yet?

what is the bore spacing?

how think is cyl wall?

iirc the block is not a siamese block. couls it be made a siamesse block with out sever cooling issues?

oil gallereys run along the block skirt.
how much can be ground away for clreance of rods for increases stroke? above .250" can .050-.10" be taken out of said areas?

along with the piston squirters? is there clearance between rods and crank weight to go to a 4.25 stroke?

i do plan on cutting mine up since it is ruined and give a rough idea of said clearances. could be double checked against a good block.

Now your talking about what I want to do .

I wish World products would make a 600 cu. in. dmax block .

Big Cubes , thier is no replacement for them .

here is what i was able to do with a 4" grinder.. camera died... sorry about the cell phone shots... the smalled cylinder wall thicknees is .350"
#1 cylinder. would a .200" overbore be doable?? it would leave .250 of wall thinkess

also with increase bore dia it will unshroud the valve and net increase air flow and room for possibly bigger valves

:beer

Now your talking. My way of thinking is that a bigger bore would be able to better make use of a larger vavle head like Trippin's stage 2s. I am not big fan of stroking these engines. Boring seems like a much better idea to me.

I want to get the block I bought off Sting sonic checked to see what I am dealing with. I would really like to get out to at least 4.125"

john.
big bore short stroke motor is a naturally high reving motor. the bigger the dif the higher you can spin it... too and extent naturally.

im planing emailing world products and dart to get their opinion on the wall thickness

IMO i really think you can push to 4.250" bore. higher HP levels might need some block filler to stiffen the walls back up since it is pushin 5" between deck and the bottom of them cylinder.
granted i dont have a crankshaft to put in and take pics. it is in my opinion that addin .0515" (for 4.250" stroke) to guys stroker crank and a little machining to clear con-rods is feasable. i think.

i have always read/heard that the min wall thinknees is .200" on high HP gasser blocks. is 1.5-2.0:1 hp:ci motors. block filler and or a solid block for high HPs

We have gone .060 over with forged pistons, so far so good.

The question is....what is too thin on a diesel with 3500-4000 psi of cylinder pressure? Anyone want to foot the bill for a big bore build to find out? :D

Leaving enough room to properly seal the head gasket at 80-100 psi is another issue.

Those two reasons are why I chose to stroke it first.

However, you never know what the future may hold?

johny depending on how far you have to overbore it to clean up that scratch might make your block useable.

irrc mika is holding 90psi with out fire-rings, also know NG is pushing those boost numbers as well..i know the old block was fire-ringed dont know about the current block. spruils truck dont know. kuliski(sp?) promod 3.0 truck dont know.

also been making sure both head and block decks are flat ie under .004" tolerance goes along way in maintianing sealed head gaskets

also heard a 482ci(8.0L) dmax block is suppose to debue late summer early fall in a mod sled truck some were in the midwest.. so far someone(s) is doing it but keeping a tight lipp on the build

guy.
100psi on a 403-410ci block or say 1000hp will be more stress on the smaller block then say a block. with substantally more displacement. no?

403 @ 1000hp 2.48:1 hp:ci
440-470 @ 1000 is 2.27-2.12:1

with the principle of 700hp is easier to make with a 454 then a 350 ;)

im calling dart and world tomorrow.

where is this going to end?? Come on guys, a billet block? Whats the point? Its not even a duramax anymore...

At that point why not just swap a cummins in?

Is your name Jake???

Sorry if that seems completely random, cause it is, but I'm trying to figure out who this cat is. I can't hardly wait to see your truck perform...

So, with the new chassis, when's it gonna be ready?
