It's going to depend on the manufacturer if the wheels as well. Some have larger hubs, thicker back walls, thicker blades, etc...

We only use the genuine Borg FMW line. If I remember tomorrow I can get a weight on the 80mm options (cast, 7 blade fmw, 8 blade fmw). Could also check the 67.7 (cast 7, cast 10, fmw 7)

Yea if you get a chance to get some weights, that would be good.

Do they make a FMW for the s472?

Yes and no, they have had one out in testing that a few were able to get there hands on. Everyone raved about it so it's going into production. Not sure when it will be readily available.

I know with our s482/96 stuff we build for twins, guys have notticed differences in the 7 vs 8 blade wheel. 7 seems to work better for peak power, 8 works better for street/response.

When I bought my 80mm billet wheel, the company said there best design for power was 7 blade as well.

Just checked the three versions of 67.7mm we carry. They are all genuine Borg Wheels. The cast 7-blade was 202.3 grams, cast 10-blade is 185.9 grams, FMW 7-blade is 201.8 grams

185 grams for a 10 blade. I would have figured heaviest for sure. Maybe my thinking is not so accurate on more blades being heavier.

Jacob, do you happen to have a cast 7 blade 72mm wheel laying around you could weigh? I'm curious how it compares to the 75 mm wheel since they share the same 101mm exducer.

There aren't actually more blades though, the 7-blade has 7 full height and 7 half height blades, so they are technically 14-blades. The 10-blade just has 10 full height blades.

72 is 271.2 grams, 75 is 275.8 grams

Yea I see what you are saying, I still figured 7 full+7 half blades would weigh less than 10 full blades.

This is good info. I like it!

I replaced my six blade Billet 75mm with a six blade cast 78mm and also added a race cover and it made a bigger difference than I thought it would. Spool is better, more top end and hits way harder.

Bumping this up for reference.

I swapped back to the cast 7 blade wheel in my s472. Finally had a chance to weigh the billet 11 blade 72mm wheel I was running. I was actually quite surprised at its weight, thought for sure it would have weighed more than the cast wheel.

Cast wheel 7 blade wheel is 271 grams.

Billet 11 blade wheel came in at 245 grams.

Even swapping to a .90 housing from the 1.0 housing I was running with the billet 11 blade wheel, I can tell the cast wheel spools slightly slower.
