Who's Ben?

Read that as "Bend Easy Um"

They were inexpensive "forged" rods that bent under stock power. More than a few people found that out the hard way.

Sorry, Ben Tyler aka “Duratothemax”. He got burned by a set of those rods. I don’t think they ever rectified the situation when it took out his motor.

I won't argue that you've been in the DMax game longer than me. I know who you are Mat, and I have a lot of respect for you. I just found it odd that you would jump on a guy for posting correct info is all.

I know Josh, and you're right. But it was heading that direction where for example someone says "I want a built motor" and then it becomes a 50-post moron-a-thon thread on the difference between a "motor" and an "engine". I think the OP knew what he wanted...all the rest of it was mincing words and whose crank is bigger.

That dude came into another classified post where I asked if a main stud kit being offered for sale had the side bolts still with it. Dude then lectures me on how they should be in there because "that's how the kit comes". I guess if the only thing you know is ARP kits...then you think that way. I have one from another vendor where it's just the mains. So let the OP answer the friggin question and keep your two cents to yourself.

Classifieds are not the place for that stupid crap.

More like "Bendeasium".....

You know someone hooked me up with the guy who made those rods, to discuss what went wrong, and the main issue had nothing whatsoever to do with forged vs billet, it all had to do with not understanding incoming material specs, preferred orientation, and heat treatment.

I get tired of the forged vs billet arguments because when it comes down to it, both can work, when executed well, and hardly anyone does the testing required to show the difference (if any).

I seem to remember you warning Nick about material selection and a few other points way back when.

That whole fiasco never should've happened.

Lol but atleast there’s enough knowledgeable people here to shut down the stupid... and give us a few laughs
The info stored in some of these threads is pure gold
But there is also some crude oil that needs refining :thumb:

There have been "wars" here before, some classic arguments. This is just the current one. There will be others in the future. It could involve you, or you, or you....

Big F-ing deal.

This post actually cracks me up because lately I have seen many Carrilllo rod failures. I think we are getting to the power levels where they don't hold up.

Other than at UCC, which is the exception to the rule, give some examples.

How's that a exception? Hince more power going into these engines. Locally in the last year I have seen 3 trucks with Carrillo rods take out blocks. 2 Cummins and 1 Dmax. Witch is odd cause tuning keeps improving. I'm just going off of what I see at the track. I am glad I paid a little extra for better rods on my build.

For one we're talking Duramax today not Cummins, so the one you saw could have been tuning, bad assembly the list goes on.

What do you consider to be better than Carrillo, if you say wagler I'm going to fall out of my chair laughing

More then one Duramax engine has failed with Carrillo’s with different tuners and different builders. Just because it’s not on the internet things can and do happen everyday. I doubt it was Guy Tripp or Marks Fault in the build I was involved in. Internet speculation gets nothing accomplished. Parts fail it is what it is. Everyone learns from it and the industry is better from it.
