Right now I'm running 60% water, 40% reg green stuff. Purposely running heavy on he water side as it just doesn't get cold enough here and I'm running 180-185* t stats so they open earlier than stock. That's complimented with the 2886 fan clutch which comes on sooner.

Have you tried water wetter?

I don't know man, I have a few time consuming and more expensive ideas but I'm back to saying get a mister and spray on demand. Might need more capacity than just a WW tank, but it'd still the the cheapest easiest thing to try I think.

James if you remember Super Diesel put a mister on his oil cooler and had good results with his coolant temps using it. If I remember right he used his water injection system to activate it.

Water wetter only works with straight water on everything I read.

I'm thinking the same, cheap and can't hurt to see what happens.

180\185 is stock stats. they dont go full open until 212. and water wetter says it works with most all anti freezes.http://www.redlineoil.com/Products.aspx?pcid=10

No tstats in the summer?
I don't think it will effect the final number but it may keep you from getting there as quickly.

Rotella T6 has been in my truck since 10,000 miles, 95k currently... No issues with it what so ever. I change oil twice a year wether it needs it or not, fall and spring. This truck has been started at -29F not plugged in and has ran many times at -40+ to 100+. Pulled 12k from Fairbanks to Seattle to Boise and back about 8K miles in a month. There is nothing wrong with T-6 and it's easy to get your hands on.

My dad ran regular Rotella 15-40 in his Pete for 500k and never even so much as lost a turbo in that time.

I like Shaffers as well but if it's a bitch to find then the heck with it, Rotella has never done my family wrong.

That Ron Davis rad looked pretty sweet, 1300 bones is a little hard to swallow.
Just my wooden nickle...

The air for the engine compartment needs a way to escape and hood louvers will not let air escape at freeway speeds, have you ever considered fender vents, may not do any good if you have no fender liners.....

I find that really hard to believe. So you're saying that the average truck not pulling a **** ton will never have fully open tstats... I've never once in my truck even in AZ hit anything above 200 on coolant temp. Even with oil temp at 250

it wont matter. if the coolant is still getting hot after the t-stats are fully open, pulling them wont do a thing. ive been down this road in two other vehicles that had overheating issues. not to metion, fueling is cut down until temps hit 140* coolant temp and it will be quite some time of normal driving to get it up there. she barely gets the 180 tstat to crack open driving to work unloaded or cruising the highway.

Then run straight water, I do :woott:

if i didnt worry about the fact i still travel to some relatively cold areas that could possibly freeze straight water over night, i would lol. plus the fact you loose boiling point without it

right inner fender is gone and left inner fender is quite trimmed.

again, only a temp fix that wont stop overheating when under a heavy load and outside temps coming through the rad are nearly the same as those t-stats opening. not to metion, i like my heat in the winter :D.

i just need to stay on cummins forum more :D

James how old is your radiator? Could it be plugging up from scale and what not?

its the original from 01.5. Very well could be but when i had it out for the motor build, she looked very clean inside looking in both ends of the hose connections. it had Dexcool all of its life, changed every 50k until the motor was built and i swapped to reg green stuff.
