G'day guys.

I was just wondering if anyone has measure the charge air temps on these big twin turbo setups. Like the guys with the big setups pushing up to and beyond 1000rwhp.

I would like to start getting my intercooler designed up so i needs to know a few things. What sort of temps are coming out of the compounding setups at 75+ psi.(anyone done any spreed sheet data, like psi vs temp) Before they get into the intercooler is what i would like to know. So has anyone done some testing or do you know who to speak with regarding this?

Cheers Heath

I am not above 1k but it is on my list of things to look into , I need to get a sensor to test with and will post up some info if / when i get some . Maybe hit up Rob or Nathan they have been at that power level the longest with big compounds .

whats the difference in charge air temps and IAT's

to me IAT is the air temp is for the air sucked into the motor , well depending on the year truck and were the sensor is . charge air temp is refering to the actual temperature of the air entering the motor , I dont trust the factory IAT sensor to tell me what temp the air is entering the motor at least on my experience with the LB7 .

is there a good way to moniter this yet

Ya , you can buy a intake ait temp sensor / gage . if it is high ebough then you could even use a pyro to measure it it just wouldnt be very acurate since the gage is scaled clear to 1600 deg . I will let you know what i find larry since i am in the market myself .

Before intercooler Temps

NO, I need the temps before the intercooler. (straight out of the High pressure turbo)

I am getting a intercooler built, so we need some data to size it correctly for the application. 75+ psi and Large Compounding Turbo setup with say a gt42 and gt55 sized turbos.

Trent why dont you trust the factory one? The only truck's I've noticed with great inlet air temps are LMM's its usually within 2-10 of ambient but the old body style trucks its scary especialy while towing big its been a while but I think I remember seeing around 150+ F on both LB7/LBZ

From what I've seen they seem to be slow to change? I would like to believe what I've seen in logs but it doesn't seem realistic

I have a lmm intake temp sensor that I would like to try for logging, I've read they are a great sensor and heard quite expensive.

On the LMM the MAP sensor also reads IAT temp. The IAT2 temp or charge air (in teh Y bridge looks like a egt sensor. If anyone wants to experiment with the IAT2 one let me know I have an extra sitting here doing nothing...

Sweet diesel your talking about the MAF right? I've never really paid any attention to the ones from each truck are the plugs the same? Mine I notice the inlet temps get bad as soon as the engine temp climbs pulling grades with a good load.

NO i need someone who already has a setup running.

I need to get a intercooler built. But the only way to size it correctly is to know what temperatures are to be cooled. Etc.

My setup is in the planing stage at the moment.

Cheers Heath

My new setup is going in this. Nissan Patrol.
