Big injector tuning

Anyone daily drive with big injectors (150%+)? If so have you or your tuner been able to tune them clean? I have 200% overs and My tuner went MIA before we could get the truck dialed in properly. truck has too much smoke before boost comes on and isn't smooth under part throttle. thanks


I don't daily drive mine as much as I would like but even with 200 percents and a hood stack I can run it pretty clean on the road. I have taken it out a few times and if I want people would have no idea it was not stock. Besides the obnoxious noise. Lol. So it is very possible.

It's funny to think back to 2008 when people told me 100% overs in a daily driver was crazy/stupid/impossible... now we put them in stock turbo trucks somewhat regularly. My strictly DD truck that will never race or pull again and will only dyno to hit 1000 rwhp on a single pump, single turbo, fuel only before being turned down to 800ish is getting 150% overs when ever I get time to install them.

Anyway, on an LB7 or LLY it is relatively easy to dial one in from the seat to run cleanly. One issue is when a customer wants the biggest tune to be nearly smoke free - like a haze during spool up even going WOT with no boost; the smaller tunes then get held back too much and don't even want to give enough fuel to spool. It's either run a single big nearly smoke free tune and keep your foot out of it when you want less power or I prefer to have the smallest tune smoke free with the bigger tunes requiring you to control fuel some with your foot.

Off the top of my head, I think Rubens tune 1 is like 1200uS :).... Conservative a tad? Haha

1100us in mine nets a 7.69 in 1/8th on #3 of 5 and that was pedaling it! Yes you can daily drive big injectors without looking like a cummins. I still haven't gotten around to fine tuning mine because the base dyno tune from the night before Schied's is really nice so I kinda forgot about it, lol! I wish I had alittle bit bigger ones because I still have more pump than injector at this point, 2000us got me a traction limited 1151hp at 28-29k rail pressure. Like Dustin said, injector quality is everything and Exergy is the only choice in my book.:thumb:

I need to take mine to the track and see what it will run with this setup, should move out pretty good!

Mark if you're ever down in ky you should run at clay city. They don't give a shit about riding passengers, helmets, cages etc on a test and tune night. Hell they let people race there 4wheelers

It makes sense to let vehicles run even if they arent up to spec. I understand needing a cage, trans blanket, all that safety stuff if you are competing at an event but not if you just wanna see what your ride can do. When my BBC is done it will most likely need a cage to run WOT down the track, no way i am gonna spend the money on a cage so now i must resort to the street for all my fun and testing.

besides the fact that our local track is one of the strictest in the country and went over my truck with a fine tooth comb to pass it for 10s, I wanted to do the cage just for my own safety. We all spend so much money in these trucks trying to go fast, if in the off chance something bad happens I would like to have a chance at walking away. 3-4k for a nice quality cage is worth having a better chance at not getting seriously injured.


the local track in florida could give 2 shits and would let you run 10s with a passenger if you wanted.
