What's the best way to lower the rear? I want a lower stance but also want it to launch good. Shackles?

If you want to lower the rear and improve the way it hooks up i would consider a drop hanger , it isnt as cheap as shackles but it will lower it and help the geomity a bit to get a little better bite out of the tire . But as Dustin said the rear shackles work jut fine .

What exactly are hangers and where can I get them?

If you were to do the drop shackles and hangars, what would be the effect? Would the truck be lower with both or would it just get back the correct pinion angle by adding hangars along with shackles?

it would be lower with both . i think the max for shackels and hangers to lower the truck is 5" if you go with the 3" shackle .the idea behind doing just the hanger is it moves the front eye of the spring up 2" and would increase anti squat . with the hanger and shackle the increase is cancled out because it moves both eys of the spring up together .

Would removing some springs have the same effect as just using lowering shackles?

Removing the overload will drop the rear about 1-1/2", and the truck rides better. Granted, load carrying capacity will be lower, too.

check with Mcgaughy's ( SP ?), DJM, or Beltech , I think they all make them , install is a bit of a pain but not too bad . I have done several 1/2 tons .

Is there a 3/4 ton specific hanger shackle kit, or can you use the 1/2 ton kit?
