well ill let you know how mine goes, im rebuilding mine in a couple of weeks.:D

Im really considering doing it myself, but the GF and I have been wanting to take a road trip out to Cali for a while, so it would be a good excuse to go by and see the man himself, and do his extra little tricks. Depending on how the rest of the year goes I may get him to throw in the billet shafts too:cool:

Any of you guys going to be on this weekend? Im going to see the GF in Denton this weekend and she will be studying alot so Im going to have alot of time this weekend to tinker with EFILive and use her computer for it. Im sure Ill have some more questions.

Should I mess with any of the trans settings? I havent even messed with the TCM yet.

don't mess to much with it yet. to much at stake to screw up. especially if your not to familiar with efi yet. you can raise your shift points but that is about all i'd touch. i leave that to the pros.

Thats why when I make any changes Ill be sure to post the tune up here so people can tell me if itll blow my truck up or not.

Is the tune that Neens posted up ok to tow 15K with? Im going to be towing a 38' gooseneck with a jeep and my old Z71 on it to NM(about 8 hours) and some other junk.

I smoked stock clutches with a 2550 pulse width, 30 psi boost and 25* timing...It's kinda hard to figure out exactly where the safe zone is...I wasn't too concerned because I planned on doing the upgrade and thought I was ok because it never limped, but Mike L. showed me otherwise...If you're not gonna upgrade soon it's probably better to stay on the conservative side...

IMO keep the EGTS below 1600f
If you have timeing rattle above 1800rpm change the tune
if your shifting is bad change the tune

Other than that go to town! you would be surprised on what you can get away with on a diesel....they are very forgiving

You will learn so much by changeing stuff,And i have gone to the limits!
focus on PW in the areas of 140mpa+ and 90mm3
change main inj PW pilot and no pilot in these areas

below these areas you can adjust your TBIQ table to suit your needs

PW from 0-30 mm3 are idle areas,No need to adjust these

pressure is the same adjust it in WOT areas 90mmm3+ and upper RPM range ,Its tough to get 180 on a unmodified cp3 but if you can DO IT!
every truck is different

the higher the pressure the better IMO

Learn to log! DES VS ACT rail press is a good one to know! if your not holding rail press....Change it,you want to be some what close

Log your teuck in stock form,And evaluate what GM does;) You will learn a ton of info from GM,there is reasons they do what they do

timeing in lower RPM is low to aid in spooling the turbo,Nothing to do with gassers as the are turbo trucks:) Your spooling the turbo will net some good 60' times.Make sure your GM is ready for it by adding the proper stuff like tie rods sleves or aftermarket TR and supports to the pitman and idler are a good IDEA

Any specific questions just ASK,I am just rambling

No such thing as rambling as far as Im concerned. That is alot of helpful info. Just wish my laptop would cooperate when I want it to. Sometimes it works perfect like now(Im at work:rolleyes:) and other times like when I want to go out and do some tinkering it doesnt want to do anything. My buddy has the parts ordered to fix it so hopefully soon Ill be back in business to start playing.
