First thread in years that's truly about performance, and then Brett goes and posts exceptional pics. Thank you! :thumb:

Looking to make 1500-1800 hp in my 7.1 lbz, currently running 488sxe over Danville’s 72/72.5 in valley, 100% overs or fuel, twin cp3s. Looking for proven recommendations! Don’t wanna go triples yet

Talk to Mark. Like Brett said, I'm pretty sure Mark has made close to 1500 with that charger in the valley (on fuel). You will need some pretty good sized injectors (400+). I believe 250s would take you there but might as well go bigger if you have to buy new anyway.

Is the 5 blade 485 really that much more efficient than the 488sxe? If so that’s very impressive!

Yes it is, we have made over 1400hp with the Stainless 5-blade S485-96 as a single turbo but haven't seen good results from the S500 turbo line up even with larger compressors. If you go bigger than the S400 frame then go straight to a Garrett based charger for big powered stuff.

I just read something today on FB on Paul Cato's post talking about this turbo. Johnny mentioned that its max sweet spot is right around 1425-1450rwhp as a single. Which is stellar IMO.

This was on an engine dyno, not rwhp if I remember correctly.

Correct, flywheel hp reading. My preferred method of testing big power stuff, anything over 800hp belongs on the engine dyno. Much safer and far more accurate way to dial in and test stuff.

Agreed. Just wanted to make sure the hp achieved was understood correctly. Not sure if this person's goal is at the rear wheels or not.

I would also talk with Mark @ Danville. I thought he made close to 1500hp with his 72vgt and Stainless Diesel 5 blade 485.

I feel like drive pressure would be extemey high at that level with the vgt in valley, I have nitrous on it now but never sprayed it. Trying to prevent from having to use it honestly. I’ve got it paired with a 488sxe now
