Best oil is oil you can get that is diesel compliant proper viscosity and readably available (easy to get) for a good price where you reside! Plan and simple!

Ive ran Delo, Delvac, Rotella 15/40, Rotella T6, and Valvoline Prem Blue. I have been sticking with Premium Blue, we used it at work, keeps the engines clean and the oil never smelled burnt when running an abuse test (270-280f oil temps). My brother and I buy it in 55gal drums, comes out to less than $11/gal delivered :thumb:

IMO synthetic is for race cars, not needed in a DD/towing diesel.

Amsoil w/ Bypass filtration so you don't go wasting your oil and change it before it actually need to.

how often do you change it in your pulling truck? I was told on here the other day 7500 was too much? I have been changing mine in the past at 7500-8000 miles and all was fine.

I change it every 4 -6 events depending on how many pull offs there are. The oil always looks good other than the soot. 7500 may be too much on certain oils. The only way to really tell is with an oil analysis. I have been doing the longer changes for a while with good results. The oil is also cleaner than it ever was. First change the oil was really dirty. Has gotten progressively cleaner with each oil change.

I'm going to switch to the heavier scheafers. Been running the 15-40 7000

The. 15w40 is a great oil. The 20w50 racing is better suited to pulling and racing. It has more
Zinc and moly than the regular 7000. It needs to be changed more often due to the slightly lower tbn in the racing formula.

New guy here. Iv narrowed it down to two oil brands that id like use. Im truck is stock & I was told I must use a CJ-4 oil because of the DPF. Now are Mobil 15W-40 Delvac 1300 & Valvoline Premium Blue 15W-40 CJ-4 oils? Id like to use either 1 of these oils if they are ok to use with a DPF.

Either one is fine. Duramax engines are easy on oil, very easy, so use either with confidence.
