Just like the heading says what is the best scanner out there to do all the domestics? I have Auto Enginuity and it works.....sort of. its just isnt that user friendly and its slow to do certain things. So who makes the best all around diagnostic user friendly scanner with all the features?

I would choose a snap on scanner over an OTC pegasis, genesis, etc. the OTCs seem to get glitchy. At work I use a snap on solus pro for a lot then have a tech2 for the gms and ford IDS software for all ford stuff.

Yeah wanting one for all three and wouldn't bad to have it for import but then again maybe I don't want it for that, from the reading i've been doing the snapon modis is sounding like the best one.

I used the modis for a few years its pretty nice and quick and easy to use once you get a hang of it, thar was 7 years ago though.

I was using a Snap-on Solus ultra at the local diesel shop, It could perform certain tests that would diagnose the problems with the engine running. It had full graphing capabilities, self-powered, and was extremely easy to use. Updates are over $1000 unfortunately, with the scanner coming in around 5k, but this would be my first choice.

I just traded a solus ultra in on a verus. I'm not real acclimated with the verus yet but I like how the vehicle history is laid out with conditions and codes documented. I do really miss the minimal boot time of the solus. Im still on the fence on whether it was a worthwhile upgrade.

Yeah I'm not looking for cheaper. Looking for one that works well. Doesn't take for ever to start up and does all the tests.

Thats my big gripe with the Verus, but anything thats PC based will take longer to boot up. Its also wireless, so it runs off its own battery or outlet power. Its great for walking around the bay, or even letting a vehicle run outside the garage. But if you go to look at something someplace out in the field your battery life is limited.

My solus ultra has mis ID'd cylinders before and given me wrong data on PIDs. Also wont do a fast learn on a Allison for some reason. Other than that it is decent. Tech 2 and IDS is the way to go tho.
