I have a 2006 lbz with 260,000 miles. I got the engine built around 10,000 miles ago. Before I got the engine built an electrical problem started to come up where the battery voltage would fluctuate between 14 and 11 volts. Since the engine build it has been going from 14 down to 9 or even less. Low enough the Trans would quit shifting. What would cause this. It has brand new batteries and the alternator has 6,000 miles on it. Another thing is it runs the batteries dead in 3 days. Any help would be appreciated.

I bet you didnt get a ground hooked up right. Check all those first. Then check for parasitic draw on the batteries.

That link explains how very simply.

Jackmo, there can actually be so many reasons causing this parasitic drain that they can’t all be described in one post. The above post mentions a wiki article correctly and it explains the reasons in a very simple way. However, it is only the person using the car who can correctly guess it. For example, if you see the voltage fluctuation in pulses, that is, the voltage doesn’t stay at 10V and goes right back to 14V in a pulse, it suggests a broken ground link or wire somewhere that gets shorted with any live wire when the car vibrates. Please check all your ground connections and wires for any shorting.
