Hit a set of railroad tracks a little faster than I should have after putting on my Pac Brake air bags (nice product by the way) and it must have upset the battery because it puked all over the hood. The top broke completely off. Luckily Tommy called and I had to look at something under the hood, and found the problem. I was so pissed, I didn't take pictures of the battery, I just wanted to get it out as fast as possible, s it was already peeling paint off. Here is a picture of what it looked like after I wiped it down.

You too huh?? ACDelco rep i talked to blamed it on the heat:mad: ..... Barely over a year old and they were boom boom. Mine didn't get on the hood, but the batt pan was peeling pretty nicely..... Sad to see that, Chad. :(

You had one too, huh? I should have taken a picture, the entire top was laying on the filter housing...

Yours sounds worse than mine. Cases on both my batt's were bulging and one was spraying fluid down the side of the case onto the pan and firewall. Didn't blow the top though.... That sounds like a fire waiting to happen.

Can't tell if Chad's are ACD or not. As far as mine go, they wouldn't do jack shit for me. Rep pretty much told me to piss up a rope, that its my fault for living in a place that see's fairly warm temps. I asked about them pro-rating the batteries at the least.... still no go.

Wound up eating those and just buying some redtops to replace them. Generic Kragen brand, but comes with a 2yr free replacement, no questions asked. After that, its pro-rated up to the 6 yr mark. Live and learn I guess....

They were AC Delco stockers, and who know about GM...I figure they wouldn't give a hoot, as they are wear items. It just sucks cause i have to get hte underside of my hood repainted now. BTW, those (in the picture) were the new batteries.

Yeah, I figured as much, but IMO a set of batteries should last longer than 18 mos....

Did that acid get anywhere on the fenders?? or hood only??

Hood got the worst end of it. The fire wall got a little splash, and the tray and fender liner got the rest... Soaked it in baking soda to let it soak up then rinsed it with the hose.

It was a higher power that made you call me Tommy, thank the good Lord. That could have been bad.

I had both of my batterries boil on me, the first one got my fenerwell and battery tray and I caught the second before it got too bad.

Sounds like AC delco has an issue:mad:

This is my 5th Chevy and 2nd Dmax in 10 years and have never had a problem with stock batteries. They seem to last about 3 years before needing replaced, but i've never had one leak, or blow up on me....

same thing happened to my dads LLY I took the batteries out and they were buldging and looked like they were going to explode

not as bad as when my LB7 started on fire after being turned off for an hour though.
