put a batmowheel in my S480 this afternoon. Figured it wouldn't hurt to try it out and see if it improves spool up at all.

I will do some logs when the weather clears and compare it to the previous setup in the lag test thread. With the rain, I haven't driven it enough to tell anything yet. I drive all day, every day so I am very interested to see if it makes any improvement over the cast wheel.

The turbo cover is a little rough from the retard that packed the setup for shipping back when I bought it... That batmo sure is purdy though!!! :D

Thank you for the help Mark!! Looking forward to testing it out! :thumb:

I popped the hood and went to work as soon as the UPS man dropped it off. The excitement keeps me young :D

Very curious to see how this works for you, I'm going to be building the same setup for my truck and up in the air on what wheel to go with.

My main objective is spool up, I don't need more air as I have too much turbo for the engine as it is.

Driving it around, seat of the pants it definitely feels quicker to light at part throttle. Seems to be a little more aggressive as it comes on. Obviously i'm not driving the turbos hard enough to really get a feel for it on the big end (gain or loss). Maybe I can do a back to back comparison on a dyno sometime in the future. The wheel is easy to change out.

I will do a log this afternoon to see how it compares to my last log for spool up.

Well it does spool a little quicker. The torque curve has to be improved, it feels stronger down low for sure.

0-20psi runs from a stop and from a roll at 1500rpm 5th gear TC locked no downshift.

Old test:

T4 S366 over T6 S480 both standard cast wheels
tires - 305/50r20
air temp - 45F
elevation - 270'

from a standstill 3.57sec
from a 1500rpm roll 4.72sec

Test with the Batmo:

T4 S366 over T6 S480 batmo
tires - 305/50r20
air temp - 44F
elevation - 270'

from a standstill 3.058sec
from a 1500rpm roll 4.43sec

That's a decrease in spool up time of 14.2% from a stand still and a decrease of 6% from a 1500rpm roll. The 1500rpm roll is not a good comparison because I did not have the TCM tune in to hold 5th so I had to feather the throttle best I could to keep from down shifting. Even with feather it, it still spooled quicker.

Other than noticing more torque (seat of the pants) I have absolutely no clue how the top end or peak hp is effected. It is obviously flowing more air, sooner than the cast wheel and I am happy with the improvement. It doesn't sound like much, but it is definitely noticable as a daily driver.

Wow that's pretty impressive for sure!

I want some for mine. I called today, I guess I'm the only one what has requested them these turbos. He said he'd make them if he has more requests......

Russ what do the times represent? 0-60?

Sorry. The times represent 0-20psi boost. The first is from a stand still and just flat footing the throttle. The second is from a steady 1500rpm in 5th gear with the converter locked and rolling into the throttle (staying in 5th locked no downshift) from 0-20psi.

This is the thread that was started to test lag via logs. Not perfect, but better than any other way I have seen yet.

you can probably get them from stainless diesel, i got my batmowheel for my aurora5000(k31) from them. and as if it didnt already light quick on my old setup...holey sheet did it light fast and come on more aggressive!

not to hijack his thread but if i dont have my compounds on when i get my motor back together i will do a back to back comparison of the stock wheel and the batmo on the a5k

I will email Relentless and see if I can get a dyno date. I am intrigued to see the results. The spool up gain pleases me, but I'm really curious about the big end now. ;)
