Just installed driver side ball joint but after putting the half shaft back in it broke the grease fitting. If I pull the new one out and install another will it fit?the upper factory bj only allow one pressed in then you have to buy a new uca.

Most the time its cheaper replacing the up arm since it comes with the ball joint and bushing and all with it already. I changed a ball joing on my 01 2500HD and the darn thing was loose in less then 300 miles had to replace the arm anyways it was only alittle more then the darn ball joint by its self.

Well, if your cheap like me you'll tack weld the joint to the arm. That's only if your like me. When you have to replace that one cause it's worn out, you can grind the tack weld off, install new BJ and tack that one too. I only recomend this if your cheap and plan on doing a SFA swap sometime. Or just super cheap and slightly dumb. Either would work for my situation. I haven't had any issues with it so far.......

If your not dumb like me, buy a new arm or get a set of those Cognito arms. They have bolt in BJ's.

does this issue apply to both, or just the uppers. I've been putting off doing a lower.

just the upper arm it's easy znd cheap replacing with a new Gm upper arm comes with ball joint in it and new bushings already. Since the upper arms on are trucks are stamped once you press the joint out the new one does not fit the same and come loose.

Well it does help when napa gives you the right part!! They gave me the 2wd version instead of the 4wd. Finished up and both were in very bad shape. The uppers do come with the ball joints if you get them from the dealership which the cost is around $150-$175. The lowers were 41.99 each but get a press. Thanks for the replies
