I'm trying to get my SUBURBAN finished up and I am fighting a problem with blue smoke until the engine comes up on boost. Every once in awhile I can get it to accelerate without smoking, but sometimes it will fog out a 4 lane highway. The only things I did to the engine was to replace the FPR due to idle lope, head gaskets due to a small coolant leak out the passenger side rear, and I went ahead and put a set of PENSACOLA remans in it for injectors since #2 had a -2.3 and #5 had a 2.6 balance rate on them in park and gear. It also hazed brown slightly under full accel. Now I am fighting a definate miss just off idle and blue smoke galore. The first go around #1 was a -1.3 in park and a -5.6 in gear and #7 was a 2.5 in park and in gear. They sent me 2 more and now they are even furthur out. The first few miles that I had them in they were good and then the smokeing started and now about half of them are getting higher balance rates to em. I did a quick log of it at idle in park then revved it, let it settle out and then put it in gear to show what the balance rates are. What do you guys think I should do here? Ditch the PENSACOLA set and get a BOSCH set or keep swapping these out until I get a decent set?

I couldn't get my log file to upload here so I am putting up a link to DTR where I have it uploaded at.

Stock tuning except for theft disable and speedo correction. I also am running a single KENNEDY lift pump, but didn't think that would cause this. My balnce rates just keep getting worse and worse. When I first put these in they were all with +/- 1.3 except for #7 which was 2.3, then #1 started climbing up to -5.6 in gear after about 30 miles of driving. I replaced 1 & 7 and the new ones were worse in park and 7 is MUCH worse now in gear. I went ahead and ran it some and now #6 is climbing up to a 4 and 8 is right behind it with a 3. The more I run it the worse the balance rates get. I'm watching a GM set on EBAY now, hopefullly I can get em for just a small fortune. I'mn REALLY kicking myself now for changing out my 130K mile set, they still ran fine with just some minor brown hazeing under load. One thing I have noticed though is I pulled one of the PENSACOLA ones apart to take a look at it and I noticed when I sprayed cleaner through it the spray pattern of it doesn't mist for crap, it sprays streams out whereas the BOSCH ones misted finely.

Talked to PENSACOLA today and they agreed to take em all back and check em for me. I told em I didn't want em anymore so they said for a $25 re-stocking fee they will take em back and I have to pay the shipping. They also agreed to send me a set of cores back. Not as good as I could have hoped for, but at least I'm not completely hosed in the deal.

Well I ended up getting my injectors through GM as my local dealer gave me a deal I couldn't turn down. All of my engine problems are gone now. No more blue smoke or puffs of grey at idle, and she runs SMOOTH now. It also smoothed out my 3-4 shift that just wouldn't adapt before and was just plain harsh at part throttle. Now I need to reset my TAPS as the shifts are all soft now. It even sounds like a diesel now with a mean sound at idle instead of that gasser sound it had before. I didn't take any pics, but there is NO comparison between the PENSACOLA remans and the ones I got from GM. The PENSACOLA ones do have the same nozzles as the GM unit's, but you could tell the factory ones had been gone through thoroughly instead of just nozzles. For thos trying to save some $$, don't do it with injectors.

Cool

The GM reman set I got won't smoke at all with the stock tune

The pensacola injectors price is tempting but in the long run the Remans from the dealer seem to be better

After looking at the 2 side by side you can see how PENSACOLA builds em so cheap and can afford to warranty them like they do. All they do is replace the nozzles and valve, that's all I seen. I had some that were pitted to the point where the injector lines go in I don't know how they sealed whereas the GM ones had new fittings there. The PENSACOLA ones have used solonoids on them as several of them had cracks in the plastis seperator on top of them whereas the GM units had new solonoids on em. The injector bodies on the GM ones were all clean and uniform where as the PEN ones looked like they had only been washed in spirits or something. And this is just what you can see from the outside of them. Now it's time to see how the SUB will move with a 20/20 tune in it.
