hey guys, my buddys tranny on his 02 threw 7 codes the other day, and leaks super bad. were thinking that its the TC seal. what do you guys think? its leaking right at the motor, and its not a slow leak. any other ideas?

it could be the front seal, or it could be a combination of both; the front seal and the pump seal. the pump is mounted right behind the bellhousing/front seal.

how far in do you have to get into the trans to do both? ive never torn into one, so i have no idea how this is going to go.

the front seal is pretty easy. drop the trans and pull the trq convertor and there it is. now the pump requires you acually dig into the trans. not easy.

hmm.. well we will give it a shot. the TC seal seems easy enough. hopefully it will be easy to tell if the seal is shot or not. guess it will be a good deciding factor for me wether or not i want to attempt to build my trans myself. :D

alright guys. we replaced the seal that the torque converter slides into, and looked over the converter for any cracks, everything seemed fine. got the tranny put in, and is still leaking out of the bell housing.
could it be the pump seal? we dont have much experience with any tranny work. i plan on calling mike tomorrow to.

everything was covered in oil so much we couldnt tell where it was coming from. we are going to start pulling it back in the next couple days. we will check the bolts, and were going to replace the pump seal while its out, and hopefully it wont need to come back out.
