Injectors shouldn't be injecting any fuel while coasting.

ok thanks guys for all the help once again. It will idle smooth and quite. Get on it runs great just like it should. cruising once again just fine. let off the fuel and knocks for a few seconds. Hopefully its not coming from the motor end. I was really thinking a fuel knock. No smoke either. If they don't inject any fuel at coasting then one must be leaking past dribbling fuel and causing the knock?
we do have a full bottle of that diesel clean and some 2 stroke oil in the tank now.

Dropping tank tonight and flushing. Also going to flush cooler and fuel line going to filter head. Plus rails and hp lines of coarse.
Question. I guess the only way to flush the cp3 is to crank it once new fuel is up to it. Disconnecting the return line?

And I lost this cover on sending unit. I guess it just holds diesel in the cup? For below 1/4 tank issue.

Took 2 days of cleaning and working our ass off. But she's running again. New injectors and cp3. Running like it should. I'm tired of wrking on diesels lol. Thanks for everyone's help and suggestions. Harbor freight ultrasonic cleaner came in handy. Took 12 cans of brake clean to get all lines flushed. What a pain. But hope it'll run for awhile now. Still need to add pre filter and lift pump.
