Trying to diagnose a problem, 02 lb7 will only build 11000 psi in the rail. It doesnt have any codes and no lope at idle.

This happened today I made a 1000 mile drive from salt lake city to omaha pulling a 4000 lb trailer. It ran fine for the first half of the drive and when I was passing someone it t fell on its face. I drove the rest of the way maxed out at 11k psi in the rail (felt like a powerstroke). Is it the fpr?

Wish this would of happened last week, did the water pump Sunday...

I believe you should be able to unplug the fpr and then watch the rail pressure, if it shoots up to max psi with the fpr unplugged(24-26k) that would tell you it is not the fpr.

If you unplug the FPR, it should hit 26107 PSI (ask me how I know, lol).

New symptons.... it has crazy soot at an idle. It will literally leave a pile of soot on the concrete. White smoke after you shut it off, and overfull on engine oil....

Sounds like you're leaking diesel into the crankcase... Cracked injector perhaps?

Anyone with a TechII, Torque Pro (android app) or EFI live can read balance rates. Definitely gonna have to open up the valve covers though and replace at least 1 injector.

Didnt let it warm up but balance rates are good, going too plan on a full full injection work up. I think the cp3 lost the front seal on the shaft but dunno for sure. No injector knock to speak of just cant explain all the extra fuel going out the exhuast.

If you have fuel coming out of the exhaust and into the crankcase it sounds like an injector. The cp3 seal could leak into the crankcase but not the cylinders. How many miles on the injectors? If you are close or over 150,000 it is time.

We have all the parts needed to do the job here http://www.hdiesel.com/C/Injectors/303 .

116k on the truck, how could I determine with certainity this is not a cp3 problem? It has to be somewhere on the high pressure side so I am good with that, just want to start ordering tools and parts. Not to mention head studs, intake horn...

The plot thickens... drove the truck to the shop today and it ran beautifully. I think an injector stuck in it, hope it didn't melt a cylinder.... No blow by to speak of, no smoke of any kind.
