anyone tried putting the DPF in reverse or flipping it around to help extend the life and clean it out? one of the issues with the DPF is the ash that doesn't burn away but builds up until the back pressure starts triggering excessive regens, codes and lower MPG and power.
every few years or so I tend to remove the DPF and rinse it out. not sure if my regens are working right as it seems to want to skip some or refuse to do it even when commanding a service regen.
so, I recently started having this thought rattle around in my head about putting it back in backwards or in reverse in order to help dislodge any ash and unburned soot. inorder to make this easy I was thinking of welding some of those V band flanges on each side of the DPF to facilitate easy removal and reversal as desired. if I put them right on each side as close as possible it should avoid any sensors or pressure tubes
what do you think? will reversing a DPF accomplish anything beneficial?
