Aussie fires

is there any kind of "trust fund" or something we could donate a few dollars to via pay-pal, to try to help somehow? i will not have anything to send myself till maybe the end of the week when i finish a engine swap on an OLD ZR-1, let me know..thanks ~jeff

I've had a look online and it looks like everything is Australian based. I couldn't find anything for international donations.

One positive to come out of this horrible event is how united the Australian population has become in trying to solve this issue. Australians have now donated over $100 million dollars, which is already directly helping victims. A family of 4 can collect an initial payment of $10,000 to help resettle. They just need to prove their identity and where they used to live.

The government is providing URGENT financial assistance. (I think it's a one off payment of $5,000 per family to pay for some basics like food, clothes, medical etc).

All the banks and finance companies (including credit card and store companies) have suspended outstanding amounts and are not charging interest on destroyed purchases for at least 3 months - nothing worse that having a $200,000 mortgage on a house that no longer exists.

Insurance companies have setup claims centres at all the disaster relief centres, and for house claims are issuing $500 supermarket vouchers, and a $5000 direct deposit as an advance on the claim without even investigating. Motor vehicle claims will take a little longer, especially if the car got burnt out along the road and needs to be identified, but Holden (GM) is donating 300 vehicles to bushfire appear for 12 months.

Thanks Dan
