Hey guys, thought I would start a thread for those who enjoy off-roading/hunting/plowing with an ATV or UTV. I just picked up a 2017 Ranger XP900 after having a Sportsman 570. Needless to say, its a pretty fun machine. I can't wait to get up to Illinois and Michigan to ride. Here in Texas, Hidden Falls is a pretty good place to ride as well.

So far I have only added a couple simple parts: light bar, rear cube lights, roof and new tires.

So post up your ride!

If you like the mountains, check out Brimstone TN. Can be pretty challenging at times, with some awesome views.

I have a 2014 RZR 800 LE, it's just a 50". Should've got an S model but at the time our state parks were only 50" legal.

I would definitely try it for the views! May try and plan a trip up to Colorado or Wyoming to ride early next year.

Picked up this guy in the early spring which kinda sucked seeing how the X3s have come down a lot in price. But oh well still love the thing. 2015 can am xds 1000 turbo with Stage 1 evo tune, evo catless up pipe, TBR slip ons, ct gusset kit, ct tie rods, doors, roof, winch, and dragon fire front bumper.

The thing that blows my mind is just how expensive those vehicles are. The costs are nuts.

Yup but they can be financed unlike sand cars or other off road rigs. Plus they can do a variety of terrains. I’ve owned a rzr and can’t say I wouldn’t own an x3 or rzr again but momma enjoys a/c in the tracker and it keeps up just fine with the rzr in the desert.

Shoot....just buy a SmartCar and put knobby tires on it. Best of both worlds, right? :hehe:

These UTVs are proliferating (yes, I used a big word today!) at a high rate around my rural area. You really have to watch out for them, b/c even though they have to have lights and signals to be street-legal, most people DON'T use them on the road.
Then there's the young teens who's parents let them drive around without knowing the basics of drivers training....holy shit.

Damn things should have to be licensed the same way a car is, and only those with a drivers license should be able to drive them on the road.

It’s that way out here too. Every joe blow thinks they are Robby Gordon with one. You must be fully licensed and legal on the roads here and if not, must be on a 4 digit or more dirt road. If county catches you on a 3 digit or less, it’s a big fine. They will post up on local hot spots to keep that in line. Cali is really bad about utv requirements

Tom, I agree. The price tags on some of them all decked out down here in Texas made me vomit. But then again, there are a lot of rich ranchers and oil money down here.

Yes, sadly something tragic will have to happen before they enforce the laws, and then all us that ride responsibly will be looked down upon. Around here you technically aren't allowed to ride on the road even with a state off highway plate. I still ride mine to the fuel station here in town, and to DQ sometimes :D

4 digit and 3 digit? You guys can't just tell the difference between TR / CR / SR?

I cruise around my neighborhood(10-15mph) with the dogs as others do with their golf carts, utvs etc. Since I don't have easy access to property like I did in Illinois or Michigan, it at least allows it to be used a bit.

The idiots as with everything, will ruin the fun for the responsible people.

Yes they are damn spendy but my damn are they fun. Almost, if not the most fun I have had on 4 wheels with the right trails. They are just so easy to read and toss around corners. I feel very comfortable tossing the thing side ways at 50mph around a corner. A buddy of mine had a bunch of wheelers and jeeps and he said that these are hands down the most fun out of all of them. He has a X3, and last time him and I went out riding we took turns playing chase down the leader through a nice windy trail, it was a blast! So much fun and the adrenaline waspumping real good too!

Yup, that’s how our roads work as far as dirt roads. There is a forestry road marker at every turn off marking what digit road it is (well, suppose to be) or an AZ topo map works. 3 digit are generally maintained county roads, 4 digit are “primitive roads” that are unmaintained. 2 digit are your state highway or interstate and generally paved. There is a ton of back country 4 digit stuff here. It’s usually a non issue lol

I just bought a new General in August. Have had several 4 wheelers in the past, and still have our ranger 800xp as well. Might have took the wrong path here!

You may have Riley. Lol how do you like it? I kind of wish I would have held out for 2018 Ranger xp1000 but oh well. This 900 is definitely a torquey bitch.

I absolutely love it! Runs great, especially compared to our Ranger. The only thing I plan on changing is the belt exhaust, and diffs/trans vents higher. However I didn't plan to get in water this deep also.

Good deal man! I’ll be up in Illinois for a couple weeks starting next weekend and I’ll be putting lots of time on my Ranger while there.:thumb:

We all know we can't leave anything stock....So I pulled the trigger and sent the ECM off to be tuned by Gilomen Innovations. I will also be getting his clutch kit. We shall see how it does.

I have been debating on if I should get a new tune for mine. I love my stage 1 and it beat a stock x3 pretty decent. But that x3 got tuned and now I think I need a retune for more to try and keep up haha
