In 2007, I had my local authorized ATS builder build me a stage 1. That lasted until October of 2009.

Then I purchased the Stage 1 built by ATS—installed & done October 29, 2009.

Keep in mind I’m running the 60hp Predator tune & this is my 2005 Sierra daily driver.

August 1 of this year, it’s shifting erratically & limps, so I take it in. Shift Solenoid E needs to be replaced. I have to pay the shop & try to get my money directly back from ATS because they haven’t been paying him for warranty work(according to him). They still have not reimbursed me the $600 I paid for this repair.

August 16 of this year(ten days after I get it back), the same thing happens. I have it towed back to the shop 7 I get it back on September 17—they replaced the valve body twice during this time period. ATS pays the shop directly.

Today it shutters, limps, and then won’t move forward. I’m currently waiting for the tow truck.

At this point, a brand new, full-warranty transmission has cost me: $600 for the covered repair, $300 in towing, $1,500 in car rental for a total of $2,400.

And now it has to go back.

Any suggestions?

seems to be the norm with the full ats transmission's i did alot of research before i had mine done and never heard a bad thing about the rebuild kits when installed by someone who know's what they are doing.horror stories when you search about the ats built trans though.it might be time to cut your losses dealing with them is impossible.

I did speak to Jason who was friendly. Unfortunately he basically told me the warranty stuff is up to Mike(not L.) who is impossible to speak to.

I went through a lot of crap years ago with ATS ,Not going to get into details. If it weren't for Wade who no longer works there I'd have a spare Valvebody and complete Transmission with a shipping crate sitting here on my floor.

So whats that tell you?

He brokered a deal between myself and Clint. Otherwise those items would still be in my possession. Clint for the most part took care of my problem . Was a 100% satisfied? No but Clint made a pretty fair offering to put it to bed.

I still have a ATS transmission in my truck and haven't had any problems but I also don't compete in racing or sled pulling but have put it through some abuse.

Seems like you either get a ATS transmission that flat out works or flat out don't. Would I do it again? I would have to say no . I just don't trust it

Good luck but I would try getting a hold of Clint and nobody else. Seems like you played by the rules so you should receive compensation in the way of a working transmission. Forget about the rental car reimbursement aint gonna happen.

I would take it to someone else, one of the big expenses when building a trans is the converter, you already have that so its not like you have to completely start over.

Same here! Wade was the ONLY one that had a lick of sence out there...then right in te middle of all my issues they canned his ass:confused:

I would guess that i have 12 grand in this trans with all the trans shop service that didnt work, all the rentals, the fluid etc etc etc....the best thing to do is just drive out there as bad as it sounds and just make them fix it! you'll save in the longrun talk to those people face to face cause a scene its pretty fun I did it:rofl:

If you manage to get it right it will be fine mine works ok i wouldnt put 1000hp to it but for 500hp its flawless!

Just glad there's guys like Mike L. that have the time and patience to help us and fix it right when that comes. I recommend ML to many cause I don't know the East ones. At least it's here if you want info for symptoms and solutions. Hell freight is a bargain compared to rental cars and many trips to fight over junk. These examples of problems with ATS above are expensive ass aches for us average guys with just X dollars hoping to get what we buy. Thanks for the insight hope you get it resolved I can see why you
re pisst. Easy to see why........

Update. ATS is sending a new complete trans. It should be here by next Friday. They think the coolers(stock & Mike L) have debris in them from when the first trans came apart. They want me to replace those to have the warranty apply. This makes sense to me.

Mike, do you have those in stock for a 2005 Sierra?

Yes I do. My cooler can be flushed as it is a free flowing unit but do what you have to do to get this behind you.
I would backflush the radiator heat exchanger ( flush opposite of normal flow ) with a hot flush machine that uses hot atf. I would do this in both directions. Hot atf will dislodge dirt much better than cold solvent.
Call me if you need me.
