damn now that's some hp..I can't believe ats wouldn't replace them or even look at them to see how they were messed up so they could improve them..

i doubt it was the horsepower's fault. there are different grades of bellows, Rick's aren't cheap. ATS, in my opinion, used the minimal amount of material and the cheapest material to make theirs, and it shows as soon as you have them side by side. The ATS set that I saw also didn't fit to the block very well. That being said, the custom headers and up-pipes I have from Rick fit extremely tight to my LBZ block on the pass side, but I think that it might be possible he mocked the setup on a earlier block. I'm not horribly worried, because the material is literally almost twice as thick it seems than ATS uses.

yea Rick has some nice products, I used to have a set of his headers and uppipes..trying to figure out how I can get a set of headers or manifolds that have the stock location so I don't have to have my turbo kit remade in the future..

i dont understand, if you use his turbo pedistal and most aftermarket pedistals out there, you dont have to change anything. the uppipes end in the same location as stock on the turbo side

IIRC rick makes ppe's manifolds just has a different casting for the logo on them

Not any more , PPE just came barely out with there own manifold .

From what I've heard, you want bellows on your daily driver because of the continuous heat, it will allow the piping to have a little flex..

I have had a set of up pipes I made with no bellows on my dd for 2 years now , they still line up perfectly, I did them for testing the idea of running no bellows on my race truck and have the race truck setup the same now . Bellows are def a good idea but i wouldn't say its "mandatory" but certainly a good idea on a short pipe with 2 flanges that see's a lot of heat .

So they buy Ricks for 2 years, then they make their own? So pretty much they let Rick figure out the hard way on what they need to make them last, then make their own. Poor move imo.

Ricks products are top of the line, hes been working on them since 2006. All the top dmaxes run them (in the pulling world), and they hold up. I wouldnt even look at anyone elses, ive had the same set of headers on my truck for 2 years, and when they are glowing red by mid track, they have seen some heat. Ats's manifold looked ok, but i could tell just by holding their up pipes that they were junk. Im not an anti ats person either, i run their dual pump set up, and it has been flawless for 5 years, never thrown a belt, and the controller still works great.

Not really, id say when he blew them out he was 800hp or so, this was last year, so maybe theyve changed them. But customer service goes a long ways with me, if you cant stand behind your product, dont sell it.

I didn't know that..I just always heard you needed them for all the heat..they do have a lot of heat going thru them..I know of some people not running them on their homemade remote mounts but they have some THICK piping..

Yeah, i would say if your not going to run bellows, run thick pipe. Some pullers i know say it will hold up fine, others say they will crack. I run them on mine.

I'm all about customer service and if something goes wrong with a product, I feel that it should be replaced or in your buddys situation at least looked into instead of ats just saying oh well..and as for ppe stealing Ricks product, I've never liked PPE because of their shitty customer service (they were assholes to me), products are over priced, and for them to have someone make parts for them then steal their design is shitty in my mind..
