Ok guys i'm gonna build my truck sometime in the near future, and would like to know your opinion's on the two turbo's i'm asking about? The ATS 5000 or the Garett GT4508R. Ok the truck is daily driven, it tows pretty regularly, I drag race, and I sled pull with it. I completely understand that both chargers are pretty big and both will take some fuel to get them to light. I also know that most of ya'll will tell me that neither is good for what I do with the truck and I sould go with a smaller charger but those are the two turbo's i'm interested in. Also later i'm gonna get twin ats cp3's and bigger injectors so your help will be greatly appericated. My goal for the truck is to run low 12's high 11's in 1/4, drag the sled past 300ft, and put down 600+rwhp and 1200+ft-lbs and still be able to drive it home and back to work the next morning.

Well a GT4508 is HUGE. I would think a GT4202 or an A5000,, or even an S475 would be a better choice. Youll have to have gobs of fuel, and raise you shift point for the best towing performance. Also, the A5000 is a 2.8 charger where the S475 and the GT4202 are 3.0" chargers.

4508 (80.8mm wheel 3.18") will darf the A5000 (72mm wheel)
the GT4202 (74.7mm wheel) is more of a comparison but still bigger the the a5k and is smaller then 3.0 at 2.94"

if ~700hp truck is you goal a GT4094 would be more suited for what you have stated. plus it will fit into the 2.8" class as well.

GT42 is on the verge of not being a towing charger. and more a DD truck with limited towing. a 4508 can be a DD charger i know nick(dmaxtuner) is running a S480 as a big single on his truck. but it has no towing duties

I have no problem towing with my A5k...you just have to learn how to drive it, or let it drive you;)

My goal has been and always will be a dependable 650-700HP DD, that is why when I swapped chargers I went with the biggest one I could afford and find and twins were out of my price range.

Might want to look at a Cheetah from FPE.

I'll check that cheetah out buddy. I've read all about the cheetah's and they have been on my mind also there is just so many turbo's out htere to choose from. It's hard to make sure I make the right choice. BTW your red pulling truck looks really good and I love the video on youtube:D.

If you're going to tow with that 4508, you'll want to take the time to build a trans tune that keeps the charger on it's toes. I drive my 80mm around on the stock tune sometimes for fun (DSP1) and it reminds me of a gas truck. The airflow is too weak (because MAF limited injection is dialed to the big tune) to let the truck on top of the charger until ~2500RPM. When it gets into the boost it does alright.

I would do a 75mm wheel though if I were shooting 600 RW.

If it's only between the A5K and GT4508, I say do the GT4508. It's scarier looking.

Well what if i go insane:D and twin a Garett 4202r and a Garett 4508r:D that would be one heck of a setup and man that truck would fly if it would work and I could get'em lit tell me what ya'll think cause I believe with a lot of time and fabrication it could be done but I highly doubt it will be any good for towing and daily driving lol

might want a 2.8 charger for the top and the 45 on the bottom and might think of a forged pistion instead of cast pistions with all the pressure. look at a cfm chart and macth the chargers up to find one that might have a good match.

if you're looking for that charger range get a GT4202R, GT45 is barely daily drivable but the GT4202 is comparable to the A5k, plus the GT42 seems to spool faster than an A5k, correct me if im wrong

some are saying the ak5 spools quicker off the line but the 42 has about 100 hp more going down the track. the 42 hybird i had was spooling fast on the street. but i never have had a ak5 to test.

42/45 are too close

as 4088/4718 works very well.

a 4202 and a 5533 or 6041, S5XX talking inducer of 110mm and bigger;)

you could light a 4508 with a LB7 turbo;)

they will not twin well, too close to each other, I'm working on getting a 45 to work with a stocker as we speak;)

BTW the fab work to run twins is simple stuff, plenty of room to work with
