Congrats!!! And yes, get rest. It was 20 hours from the time we got checked in, until my wife delivered our first daughter...

Congrats... our daughter just turned 1 on November 3rd.

It goes fast.

I slept in a chair for most of the delivery until I got the hand squeeze and saw the little one make her way into the world. Wife took the entire thing very well.

Congrats, and don't always believe what the docs tell you. My wife just gave birth 9-16-12 at 2:38AM. We went to the doctor on 9-14 in the afternoon and he said everything looked good for her due date in 2 weeks, later that night her contractions went from an hour and a half to 14 mintes, and by 4AM on 9-15 they went to 4 minutes. Went to the hospital and they were ready to send her home at 2:30 as they didn't think she was ready since she was only at 2 cm's, and that night at midnight she was only at 3CM's and they told her she could stil lgo home if she wanted to, but the pain was to much for her to take as her contractions were 1 1/2 minutes apart. 1 AM and her water broke, and by 2 we were telling her not to push as the doc had been called but wasn't there yet. He walked in with enough time to put his gloves and covers on his legs and catch basically.

When it's time, it's time. So be ready for the unexpected, and enjoy the experience. And try to not let her break your hand when she squeezes it.
