Since my lmm has been more play than work, I picked up this zf6 to use as a farm truck from an auction site where we bought some skid steers last year.

Zf's have always interested me and being arrival blue seemed sort of rare. It's a little beat up but only has 56k miles.

With some different wheels and some small mods it should make one heck of a work truck.

Afaik, arrival blue only came on the SS Silverado.

I have a 2003 GMC in Arrival Blue, and it looks more like a metallic blue than yours. But it could just be that yours needs washed. Mine loses the sparkle when dirty.

Either way, that's a rare truck you have. It should make for a great work truck!

I was looking online last night and thought maybe there was a different blue.. the paint is in pretty rough shape which doesn't help.

very nice! just a warning, stock clutch doesn't like 100hp and up tunes

Or heavy towing, or aggressive driving, or just existing behind a Duramax

The truck will be tuned soon and will tow heavy and probably driven hard. Whats a decent clutch for a truck that won't ever see over 500hp, tows heavy, and is a dd?

On a side note, can turbo braking be used with a zf? I was thinking a tune with an aggressive turbo brake could be made. Then just switch the tune on the downhills or before stop signs.

I have turbo brake tunes on my zf, don't tow but awesome for highway when people can't maintain a speed I just let up on it and she slows right down. It would be great for towing because if it isn't braking enough you can just drop it down another gear. Id get a small dual disc you will never regret it

You will be suprised how good you can slow down just being a manual transmission diesel, turbo brake just makes it that much better

I'm sure it will get one in the next year after the lmm motor is finished up. I want strong braking ability for towing because we run a nasty hilly road near my house to most of our farms and most stuff we pull is either heavy, doesn't have trailer brakes or both.

Turbo brake is nasty on the zf trucks. I had one that builds like 10psi of boost on decel. I might still have it on the computer.

You'll have to compromise somewhere with the clutch. Either be happy with 350-400hp and a stock replacement single disc that's really smooth and forgiving or get the street dual disc like above that'll hold whatever a stock engine can throw at it and put up with some grabbyness and noise.

I have the street dual disc. For the abuse it'll hold it's more than tolerable. There's always granny gear and 4lo for getting it rolling and the super technical maneuvering

I've hit 20 psi in mine turbo braking not towing lol but that was rapping 5th out hard and letting out of it. Really saves the brakes:thumb:

I have been busy cleaning up the truck since it came from a mine in Colorado. For the most part it is really nice.
I have a blocker plate and lbz mouth piece to put in yet but I got the oil changed and a new air filter while removing the headache rack and swapping wheels.

The truck smokes black at about 2000 rpm and has a really odd turbo wistle. Only guage in the truck is boost and seems normal. With the low miles it must have sat a lot. Could the vanes be stuck? No cel btw.

Just a little update. I put 4" exhaust on it and it does check the vanes but seems more quiet than I remember my old lly being. I also traded the ranch hand to a fellow zf6 friend
