Arp rocker studs discontinued, are they necessary?

I've been doing all of the work myself. I had some machine work/assembly done at my machine shop but enjoy doing things myself.

I put merchants in mine mainly because I have been around 2 different trucks that had bent pushrods for not apparent reason. Figured with heavier springs it couldn't hurt.

Most valve train upgrades are intended for high boost high rpm operation. None of them are going to hurt you.

We run them in any performance build. It may have been fluke but I have seen the factory bolt break. I like studs better anyways. Also always run aftermarket pushrod on any performance build. Seen to many stock ones bend, and again they're cheap. IMO If your gonna nickel and dime some hardware and small upgrades during a build then you shouldn't be building a high performance d max engine :D just my opinion.

I think everyone agrees there. Dales question was whether or not they are necessary for his build. The honest answer is no. The better choice is yes.

Last i looked, we had some on the shelves if i can help :thumb:


after snapping a stock rocker assembly bolt in my black truck, we only use the studs around here.

I would agree Tim unless he's going to turn it 4500 or more. There is a lot if grey areas when it comes to definite yes or no. If he going to do it like everyone Ines else in his he runs it more he doesn't need it. It is worth the extra peace of mind but not a guarantee he still will not have a failure. Sky's the limit on what you can spend.

That's why my first post said it would be cheap peace of mind for him. Have I spent a ton of money overbuilding my stuff, absolutely, but I didn't do it because someone online told me I had to do it. Too many people say that in order to have a 850hp truck you need cam, ported heads, billet main caps, and all this extra stuff that is just them spouting off what someone else told them to spend money on. It's getting bad. If a customer comes to us wanting to work within a budget, we also talk about these pro's and con's and hope they change their budget accordingly. But if they don't, that's their choice, it's on them.

That's why I ask, I could just buy everything billet and build it to the sky but for my goal some may be overkill more than cheap peace of mind. And then I can take all of the opinions and decide what I should do. Can't thank everyone on here enough for all of their help and input!
