*****NOTE-I'M NOT ASKING WEATHER LLY HEADS WILL WORK ON AN LB7 OR NOT!!!!!****
I ask this because I have an LB7 w/ Cali emissions and they are restrictive compared to Fed heads...at 200K my injectors are finally going out of spec. I want to go with better heads and I don't have the cash to help put guy's kids through collage, so I'm thinking of going with LLY heads.

It's not that bad, but I think you'll need a lot more than just the heads. There's a thread over at the DP where I did a complete LLY swap into an 03.

PM me if you have any questions.

Why do I keep doing this?

Somewhere on here, Ben listed what you needed to do the swap. FICM, heads, wiring harness was what I remember.

Rick's writeup over at DP was pretty good, and explained everything. I forget where it is, though.

All LiLLY heads are the same as far as I know. You will need a full set of injectors, plumbing changes, ECM, FICM, etc.

Not for the meek, unless you have a fully dressed LLY handy.

Cheaper to keep it LB7. If you are "full race", you need to step up to LBZ for max effort trucks. LLY is a half measure.

Thanks...

Why the LBZ??

IIRC, even a banned member can view posts there as a guest.;)

Also IIRC, the LBZ has different glow plug threads. Not sure where you live, but if it's cold there you might wanna consider that.

But in effort to keep this thread from being taken off course I will add some "tech", you will need to run an LLY GPCM too. LB7 glow plugs are 12 volts. LLY glow plugs are 4.7 (4.4?) volts. Not to mention they are different threads as well, so they wont physically fit either.

So i could put LBZ heads on my truck (LLY), and use LBZ injectors and ECM for a better race app? Almost be an LBZ. What else would there be to do?

Meh,

I don't feel like wasting my time on a forum that you can get banned from for this that happen elsewhere. It's like being 86ed from the sports bar after getting in a fight at the corner pub....

Sorry, just trying to help and make sure you knew you could access it. Figured since I am one of the only people in the world that have actually done the swap and are willing to share I would.:)

Meh. ;)
